Hi ladies!

Just looking for some general advice/stories of your own!

I’m 40+1 now and had a sweep yesterday, had some brownish discharge after and this morning. No signs of baby coming until lunchtime today - I had about 5 minutes of discomfort and then nothing.

This evening I’ve had about half an hour of constant on/off cramping and feeling like I need to pee. Believe on my last visit to the loo I have lost my mucus plug but now the cramping seems to have stopped!

Has anyone experienced this before?!

Yes it’s very stop and start with the beginning of labour this is how mine started! I would have a nice bath tonight and try to relax and my bet is you will start with regular contractions tonight or early tomorrow morning.

It's how mine started too. On and off pains then Was in labour the next day.

BabyLEphant · 19/03/2021 18:39

Yes exactly that happened to me. Sweep at 40 weeks plus a few days (was v painful) and caused a bit of light contracting next day but then stopped. I was booked in for an induction but then went into labour naturally the night before at 40+6

Sounds like the sweep might be doing what it's meant to do? Get as much rest as you can - you could in for several days of this!! Or it might all happen fairly quickly....

Rest, eat, repeat.

Sorry to dampen your hopes a little - I had a sweep at 40+4 and in the next couple of days had lots of cramping and lost my plug but then nothing. I got induced at 40+9 but actually found it much easier than my spontaneous labour. Good luck!

Let us k ow how you get on op!

Blueangel4 · 19/03/2021 20:59

Thanks for all your stories ladies, I’m remaining optimistic this could be the real deal!

Baby seems to be very active in there whilst not ‘contracting’ and then goes quiet again, all so confusing!

Will update you with any progress we do, or don’t have! Fingers and toes crossed

Good luck I hope it is labour starting.
I had two sweeps a week apart, I felt awful all week after the first, I had spotting at first followed by backache and cramping every day, felt hormonal and wanted to stay at home. Nothing happened until the day after my second sweep but I think it would've happened by then anyway.

Blueangel4 · 23/03/2021 19:27

Just an update!

No sweep today as baby’s head is slightly too far out of pelvis (at 40+5 I’m not sure how!!!) induction booked for Tuesday, it’ll be a long 6 days.

Oh I’m sorry you are still pregnant it’s so frustrating waiting! Wishing you the very best for the next few days and a spontaneous labour starting tonight 🤞🤞
