Brixton hicks at 17 weeks? High risk

Hello, this is my second pregnancy at this gestation.

I had my son at 28 weeks so I am having fortnightly cervical scans.

This week I've noticed my uterus going hard every now and again. But last night it was quite a few times and it woke me up on occasions.

My midwife is useless; I contacted her Monday and still haven't heard from her.

All I want to ask is if this is normal? I am slightly anxious because I'm worried about going into early labour.

My next scan is Monday. Two weeks ago my cervix was 34mm which they are happy with.

Thank you xx

I'd call the labour ward tbh they can get you in the triage if needs be. Don't wait until the next scan.

@idontlikealdi we don't have a triage at the hospital for this gestation! Only 20 weeks plus.

I should mention that they aren't painful. Just feel a bit odd and primarily when bladder is full.

I wouldn't worry about what gestation they normally see lady's from I would give them a call coz of ur previous history, if they won't see you then they can point you in the right direction. Or do u have the contact for the pre term clinic and asked to be seen today.

I had loads of painless bh but went into triage at 28 weeks to get checked also had my 1st ds at 28 weeks, found that I had gone down to 2cm and cervix started to funnel, luckily not to the stitch. So think it's worth gettin check today as worse case ur cervix is gettin shorter but they can act now to help xx

Not sure how helpful or reassuring this is, but I'm on my second pregnancy and currently 32 weeks. I haven't had a single braxton hicks so far, but with DS I had braxton hicks regularly from 19/20 weeks (before I'd even felt any kicks!) and he didn't appear until 42+2! By all means keep trying to get your midwife to respond (as she should anyway!) but if there's no other signs of labour I wouldn't worry too much?

ThePricklySheep · 19/03/2021 08:21

I had loads from that point I think. But I wasn’t high risk. Is there a central midwife number you can call? Or try yours again, it may be just one message that has gone astray.

mamatocaptainchaos · 19/03/2021 08:39

Nothing is open until 9am so I will call then. I might just call the maternity day assessment ward even though it's from 20 weeks. I'm worried.

I am going to the early pregnancy unit at 3pm. I'm so scared and worried. I thought the contractions were braxton hicks with my son but I had him three days later

boymum88 · 19/03/2021 15:57

Hope everything went well today

mamatocaptainchaos · 19/03/2021 16:11

I am still here. They aren't too happy. They are seeing if my consultant will see me after her appointments today if not they will get another doctor to see me

@mamatocaptainchaos hope everything goes okay xx

boymum88 · 19/03/2021 16:37

Not good things are not good, but also good that they have listen to you and gettin you seen by a consultant, hopefully they will scan ur cervix to rule out anything happing that end and not just to a virginal exam x

How did you get on @mamatocaptainchaos ? Hope everything is ok x
