Hi, I’m 9 days post d&e and I have taken a pregnancy test today which is still very dark. How long have you found it takes to show as negative? I am still getting lots of cramps and bleeding. It just feels like this is never ending. It’s so hard to focus on anything else.

It took mine 6 weeks to go completely negative. Was dark for a good few weeks

@Ev82 it took me 8 weeks after D&C for the pregnancy tests to be negative, about 3 weeks for it to stop being super strong. Others have it negative within 2 weeks. Can depend a lot on how far along in pregnancy you were. General rule is to go back to healthcare providers after 3 weeks if not negative.

I'm unsure if you have had a miscarriage or abortion from your post. Come join us on the misscarriage boards if that is what has happened for you - our latest support thread is here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/4190003-Support-thread-for-those-experiencing-or-recently-experienced-a-MC-MMC-Thread-4-ALL-welcome.

Thankyou both. Seems like there's no simple set time. I had a miscarriage. We saw baby's heartbeat 6 + 3 weeks. Then was told it had stopped by looks of it at 7+2. I went for the option of a D&E the following Monday as was told it didn't look like would move anytime soon. I thought this would be better for me as I just want it to be over so can move forward. Feels like time is standing still.

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I was testing positive for just over three weeks. Embryo was 8w5d, had surgical management at 9w3d (missed miscarriage). As soon as I tested negative I ovulated. Hang in there and reach out if you want to chat xx

@TomatoSoup69 I am sorry that you have been through this also. It's like a roller coaster isn't it. It's all I can think about and feel like I am annoying everyone I speak to. Driving myself insane. Even going back to work isn't helping take my mind off it all. I know time helps just wish time could go a little quicker than it is

Our wee support group honestly is lovely @Ev82. Part of the reason my positives lasted so long is that my baby lived until 11 weeks+. I felt very emotionally focused on it and very preoccupied for months. Only really just lifting now and my loss was in late nov. What I'm trying to say is its allowed that you feel this way, but also that things will get better I promise you.

Chelyanne · 17/03/2021 17:53

They can take up to 6 weeks to go negative unfortunately, keep testing weekly and take good care of yourself. Condolences on your loss

Ev82 · 18/03/2021 11:48

Thankyou @Chelyanne
