When to call a doctor? Miscarriage then pregnant!

Hey! So I just found out I'm pregnant! I'm 4 weeks and I'm so nervous as I literally just had a miscarriage at 4/5 weeks last month . Didn't expect to fall pregnant so quickly. Just wondering when is the best time to call a doctor or do I wait this bit out?! I'm so nervous finding myself checking every time I go to the toilet for bleeding. I feel ok just extremely exhausted and bloated and cramping a bit, just so want this little nugget to stick and be okay! So nervous.

Congratulations and best of luck. This happened to me. I miscarried at around six or seven weeks and was devastated. Then got pregnant with DS2. If that hadn't happened he wouldn't exist and he is, quite simply, a beautiful, astonishing, lovely human being so it's bitter-sweet but almost all sweet. I was told women are often super fertile after a miscarriage. A friend who I love very much has just lost a baby early in pregnancy and I'm hoping so much that this happens to her too.

Try and relax, call your doctor as soon as you want to but don't expect too much. They will have protocols for booking etc.

Congratulations.
My doctors told me to contact them after 6 weeks and I wouldn't hear from a midwife until between weeks 8 and 10.
It's been the same with all my pregnancies

Thanks so much for replying! I think I will wait to call the doctors like you said there's not much they can do yet anyway so I'll prob call when I'm coming up to 6 weeks . Gonna do everything I can to try not worry or equally get too excited . I really hope this lasts 💛

Call docs soon as hun. I had a blighted ovum in October and didn't find out until our 12 week scan, I'd been pregnant for 8 weeks when we were told and had to have surgery so they're keeping an eye on me this time around.

I've known from 3 weeks again. I called the docs after daily tests for a week. It didn't make the first call with the hospital any earlier, I had my midwife call last Tuesday and they've got me in on the 19th for a scan and bloods, then again on 6th April for another.

Definitely call the gp and they'll put it to your district maternity unit for your care

Take care hun! Xx

Ahhh that's just made me so nervous reading that but thanks for replying.
I am sure it's not from last pregnancy as it was confirmed miscarriage early in and I had negative tests afterwards .. and the first test I took this time round was a weeks one that said 1-2 weeks which did match up . Ah now I'm nervous !
Maybe I will call the doctors then.. :/

Equally - I went to see gp after my second chemical pregnancy and was basically told to fuck off (and I quote 'have more miscarriages before we will care'). So don't expect any monitoring, any extra appointments etc...

Sadly, up to 50% of conceptions (when an egg is fertilised) end in miscarriage of some sort, whether failed implantation, chemical pregnancy, blighted ovum, etc... the more days you stay pregnant, the more likely it is to continue.

Unfortunately as PP said, doctors aren't interested unless you've had 3 previous miscarriages

chrissynewbie · 16/03/2021 23:00

I have technically had three though last month was my third but other two were when I was much younger

I had a loss early September and conceived early October , I called at about what I thought was 6 weeks but of course it was the one month in ages I hadn't been doing opks 🤦‍♀️ so not sure when I ovulated .
