Pressure / heaviness / swelling 15 weeks

Hey everyone,

I’m 15+4 with IVF twins. In the last week I’ve been having quite an odd heavy sensation, almost like pressure, swelling down below. It’s making me nervous like something is going to fall out!

Anyone else had this?

I had a feeling like that around 17 weeks. It really worried me and was accompanied by tightenings - I actually ended up at A&E thinking I was in premature labour (which seems very dramatic now!). Everything was fine and the feeling went away after I slept. Came back again a couple of weeks later and then went away again. I now recognise the tightenings as Braxton Hicks and just assume the feeling of pressure was to do with where the baby was lying - twins might make that more likely? Maybe call your midwife and see if she's come across this before though?

Thanks so much for your reply, it did reassure me a lot. I also ended up in A&E as my midwife said I should get it checked out, was fine, just normal pressure from babies and being quite constipated Blush

I had the same pressure at 17 weeks and delivered my son prematurely at almost 18 weeks. I remember walking down the hospital corridor after a scan (because I had been bleeding) and having to take a moment & sit down bcos I also felt the baby was going to fall out. I had contractions after that, was admitted to hospital and had my son two days later.

I wish I had pushed for cervix checks via scan, even though my cervix was being checked physically, I’ve read up recently the pressure can be a sign or the cervix funnelling.

I’m not saying this is the same for you, and you are pregnant with twins so that’s more weight but I would get it checked out if it’s accompanied by braxton hicks.

Let us know how you get on. X
