I am pregnant with my first child and I was just curious on who everyone had at the birth? Of course my DP will be there and I've always imagined I'd have my mum with me too.
However, DP has expressed that he would love it to just be me and him. It's his first child also.
He's being very supportive and has said it's ultimately my decision. I'm now just torn, I'd love my mum there especially as it's my first. But I also totally understand DP wishes aswell.

Anyone had the same dilemma? If so what happened in the end? Xx

I had my mum with me as well as my husband with my first baby and I was glad. It was a great experience - they get on very well. As a midwife I can report that people often have their mums! It isn't a strange thing to do.

However you may be limited due to covid. At my trust - we are now allowing 2 birth partners again so you may be fine.

I just had my husband. Wasn't ever a choice, I only wanted him there

having a second birth partner on standby I think is always a good idea. If it is a long labour your partner might be glad of a hours break to grab a coffee or a nap so that you aren't left alone.
