Harmony/NIPT test

Hi everyone,
Just hoping someone can help. I’m due to have the Harmony test on Wednesday, I’ll be 10+1, so essentially the earliest possible gestation to have it. I was just reading another post and saw that the earlier it’s done the more likely it is to be inconclusive due to insufficient fetal DNA. Has online had it done this early and had a clear result? Also I’m taking aspirin which obviously thins the blood, should I stop taking that from today? I’m only taking it because I’m an old knacker Grin and because it’s been 10 years since my last pregnancy.
Any advice would be very appreciated xx

Hi,
In my trust you’re only offered an amnio/CVS if your screening results come back as high risk (1/150 or lower here) I opted for the Harmony because I thought initially it gave a definite yes or no, due to using fetal DNA, however this isn’t the case and you again are given a numerical risk factor, ie 1/1000 or whatever. According to their literature the results are extremely accurate...but then I guess they would say that!! I don’t regret having the test as I wanted to know sooner rather than later but I guess the slight worry will always be there.
We are hoping to find out the sex, with 5 boys and 1 girl already I’m scared to tell my daughter it’s another boy, so fingers crossed!!

@Peacefulspirit Exactly like you, I went for the NIPT when I thought I was 10+1 but I was measuring 10+4 on the scan.
Did the test Monday 15th and just got the results on Friday 19th, in the evening.
The consultant said they aim for 4% fetal DNA and they found 14% on my sample (normal BMI) -probably why results came back so quickly.
All good (lowest risk), I also found out I'm having a girl and I'm over the moon 💓 though I'm FTM so I didn't care that much!
I hope you get your results very quickly and they bring you the reassurance you are looking for! 🙂
@purplebiscuits the cvs / amino has a 0.5 - 1% miscarriage risk. Which tbh I am willing to take as if baby was born with DS I would consider putting for adoption (please don’t judge). I think false negatives are rare in NIPT.I would like to know the percentage of babies born with DS with a given low result on the NHS?
About 10-20% of pregnancies with DS are missed by the combined test the NHS offers.

@Peacefulspirit congratulations it’s a big relief! I also didn’t get my scan till 13 weeks + so glad I had this all done at 11 weeks

Thanks @2021mumma x

I had mine at 11 + 3 and results came back with insufficient DNA. They offered a redraw but wanted me to wait 2 weeks. I insisted on going back at 12 weeks and results came back fine. My BMI is normal range so they were surprised why didn’t get results first time.

Who did you book your Harmony tests with ?

Carebear99 · 23/01/2022 06:19

I'm 6w5d. I'm 39 with a high bmi. I'm so scared of the genetics tests, I will probably have the NPIT test but I don't know what I would do if the results are high risk. I know I've got just over 3 weeks to wait, or longer as you have said you should wait until 11 weeks with a high bmi. The risk is really high for me
