Ibuprofen gel during pregnancy

So I've had horrendous neck/bottom of skull pain on the right side which radiates to just behind my ear for days now. Rang 111 which were no bloody help so I'm going to my doctor tomorrow for a face to face appointment. I've tried paracetomal, hot water bottle, cold compress, warm bath, warm shower, massage etc everything you can think of to relieve the pain. Its awful and all 111 said was that I could take ibuprofen if I wasnt pregnant but because I am, I cant have it (super helpful cheers). They did however say i could use deep heat gel or spray. I tried the spray and almost immediately came out in a rash on my face, chest and neck so had to take if off asap. I've got the cooling gel on now but I'm just worried because it contains ibuprofen. It says on the pack dont use after 6 months pregnant (I'm only 11 weeks), im just concerned its gonna do some damage. Did anyone else have these issues?? X

If you're not even 3 months pregnant and the medicine advises not to use after 6... I would 100% use it 👌🏼😂 especially if it's working and making you more comfortable! And just try get in contact with your GP tomorrow for their advice x

I went to the doctor for pain in my wrists when pregnant and they told me to buy the gel, was over 6 months at the point too.

It should be avoided at all stages of pregnancy as it has links to some birth defects. Your GP should be able to prescribe you something a bit stronger than paracetamol which poses a lower risk to baby when you see them.
I used to use ibuprofen regularly to relieve swelling from arthritis but don't touch it during pregnancy.

I've been told not to use it in pregnancy. I'm sure the risks are minimal, but I personally wouldn't.

Cheers ladies, I used the smallest amount and it helped a little. Enough to relax me for sleep hopefully then I can see my doctor tomorrow:)

If its a one off your baby should be fine i just wouldn't reccomend using it again :) I'm 37 weeks now and everything is fine x
