Hello everyone, hoping people can advice to help me with my anxiety. I am around 5 weeks maybe 5.5 weeks and I have no symptoms and feel like I’m getting my period every moment of the day. I just get that ‘feeling’ you know when your getting your period? It hasn’t come or anything but i can’t shake the feeling that any second I will start bleeding or something. Please can someone help to make me feel less crazy. First time mum here and been trying for 2 years .. I’m so scared :(

@KateC92 Hi OP, I posted something similar yesterday. I am 5+3 today and I feel the exact same. Only symptom I have is sore breasts and I keep feeling very crampy like I'm about to get my period...
I had a miscarriage last time and didn't experience this so I think it might be things stretching and moving around. What makes you feel like you're getting your period?

All three of my pregnancies, I felt like that for the first 15 weeks or so... or felt nothing at all which is equally distressing! I just kept telling myself: no blood, all good. (Imagine the freak-out then the first time I had a small implantation bleed hahah!)

All this to say: I think it’s normal to feel a bit period-ish, and a bit anxious. The period feelings you can’t control, but you can try to manage the anxiety. :-)

Congratulations!

This is my second pregnancy (first pregnancy ended in a healthy baby) and I went through the anxiety both times. Things which helped me where:

  1. if everything isn’t ok, everything will be ok. (If I have a miscarriage it will be bad but I’ll survive, I’ll get past it, decide if I want to try again etc but IT’LL BE OK)
  2. everything is temporary (this entire pregnancy is temporary, just get to the next step, enjoy it for what it is)
  3. thoughts are not facts (my worries are only worries, I can’t think bad things into existence)
  4. spunking a load of money on early scans (lighthearted one, but actually, I kept putting off scans like somehow it was better not to have scans or that I was feeding the anxiety by having them; but actually they help me and (referring back to point 2) it’s a temporary measure, the first trimester will be over within 12 weeks, a few weeks more and I’ll feel movement so if spending money on scans makes me feel better and I can afford to, then just do it.)

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your replies, I’m trying so hard to chill out and be happy but after such a long journey it’s hard to believe it’s happening for me. I don’t really have any reason to believe i feel my period is coming it’s just I feel like a do before I get it. ( it was a feeling more then cramps or sore boobs etc) I’m hoping it’s my mind playing tricks on me and your right not blood is good! Fingers crossed it stays that way 🙈

Congratulations. I had the feeling of my period coming for a good few weeks after we got our BFP. I kept going to check for blood. I am 12 weeks now and I still get cramps now but had our scan on Thursday and all was fine. Your body is going through huge changes and your uterus will be stretching. It took us 2 years to conceive too so I know your fear and I feel the anxiety too. All you can do is take it one day at a time and trust that your body knows what to do xx

@Rosieposy89 thank you for replying. Your right one day at a time is the best solution 🤞

@KateC92 I felt like this early on, I am now 8 weeks and feel a lot better. I think everyday you edge closer to the next week makes you relax a little more and having an early scan was a positive experience for me.

KateC92 · 13/03/2021 22:04

@2021WillBeGreat yes I think your right. We made it the last ten days one day at a time. Some days I feel more anxious then others. We were having fertility treatment so scheduled for a early scan on 23rd March. Just need the next ten days to go quickly now 🙈
