Pain after a sweep - what/why/OK?

Hi all,

Back again... had a sweep today at about 3pm - and really very uncomfortable now...

Apparently cervix less that 1cm dilated, and still posterior, but she was still able to do the sweep - although it was quite uncomfortable as a result. She did say she would be quite vigorous, as I'm only getting one chance at this working - I'm 42 weeks on Saturday and due to be induced on Friday if nothing comes of this.

Since I got home, baby has been very active, but I'm feeling pretty rotten TBH... feels like constant BAD period pain with bouts of more acute pain... feel a bit sick when the pain gets bad.

Is this normal after this procedure? A good thing? Not a good thing?

Haven't had any bleeding or any kind of 'show' yet - again, good, not good?

Just not sure how it all should feel, what's a positive sign and what's not., etc.

Any wisdom/experience/advice out there?
I'd really appreciate it...

lots of positive birth thoughts and nipple stim for you

you'll get a better night's rest in your own bed anyway

Yay DB!!! Your story is giving me hope. Keep us posted and good luck!

Still contracting - getting fairly regular - every 6 minutes or so - last about 2 minutes. Uncomfortable but not especially painful...

Fingers crossed - legs uncrossed... etc.

Choc - plenty of time before tuesday - but maybe these LOs just like to cut it fine - will you have another sweep before then?

Possibly worth asking for one...

Good luck...

Good luck DB!! Fingers definitely crossed for you.

Nothing happening for me here - am more or less resigned to induction on Tuesday. But really hope this was it for you and you've avoided it!!

Good luck!

Just a quick update...

Contractions continued but didn't build.

Induced Friday 9am, finally gave birth Saturday 5.44pm... Long, very difficult birth plan out of the window at some point during the four hours of one continuous contraction, whereupon had a wonderful blessed epidural...

Baby passed meconium and so it all got a bit scarey, ended up as a forceps delivery with am extended 3rd degree tear and cervical laceration probably because Isabella Grace turned out to be 9lbs 8oz with a huge head!

And I'm only 5ft 1"..

So, sore but very happy mummy of huge but very well behaved baby...

Hope it all turned out OK for you other overduers...
