hello everyone has anyone ever experienced a Subchorionic haematoma in pregnancy at nine weeks if you have can you please share your story as I am freaking out.

I had one identified at my 12 week scan but had no symptoms from it. They sometimes cause bleeding/spotting. It was gone at the 20 week scan and all looked normal

sazzt · 10/03/2021 18:47

@Dhano21 I had two heavy bleeds at 6 weeks from what was later identified as SCH. I then had brown spotting for weeks before it eventually stopped. By my 12 week scan there was no sign of it and I am 16 weeks today. The bleeds were terrifying but didn't cause harm other than my anxiety levels up to the 12 week scan!

Dhano21 · 10/03/2021 18:50

@sazzt thank you for sharing I have been diagnosed with a subchorionic haematoma since week five I am nine weeks at the minute and I have had spotting almost every single day sometimes it's red sometimes it's pink and sometimes it's brown it is so scary as I have had a previous miscarriage and a termination of pregnancy due to a fetal abnormality.

Did you spot or bleed every single day from week 6 to week 12?

@LemonRizzle Not spotting or bleeding is so good at least it doesn't worry you and I'm glad to hear that your haematoma went by that week 20.

hi op...i had one with my DD.

Bled every day until about 21 weeks. Sometimes very heavily

sazzt · 10/03/2021 22:02

@Dhano21 my spotting stopped a bit before 12 weeks, maybe by 10.5 or 11 weeks, I can't remember exactly. It definitely went on for weeks and weeks after the initial heavy bleeds in week 6.

I’ve got one too- currently 13+1 and have been bleeding every day for the last four weeks. Again sometimes red and large amounts (leading to me being in hospital) brown, spotting, period type symptoms. I have my first scan next Monday but early scan have revealed it. It’s so unnerving and I find every time the blood slows the next day I’m greeted with a new gush. I don’t understand why it’s not shrinking on scans. Encouraged to hear positive stories. I’m trying not to think about it but it’s horrible when I’m too scared to go to the loo!

I had 2 small ones this pregnancy. It came to light at my 12wk scan where whilst being scanned I had a huge bleed, baby was totally not bothered and the sonographer kindly offered to rescan a few days later. When I went back 4 days later she said I had 2 subchrionic haematoma.

I bled heavily for 4 days. Then just brown blood for about 2.5wks.

No sign of them at my 20wk scan and am now 27wks.

Applecrumble24 · 12/03/2021 10:07

You probably don't want to hear this but mine ended in a mmc. When I was googling, all I found was positive stories so although I was terrified, I wasn't really expecting it all to go wrong.
I had bleeding on and off from 4 weeks. A scan revealed a sub-chorionic haematoma at 6 weeks, baby was fine, good heartbeat. 8 weeks the same, haematoma didn't get any smaller. At 10 weeks there was no heartbeat.

I will never know if the sub-chorionic haematoma was the cause but tests on my baby came back as normal.

As I said, all other stories seem to have positive outcomes so there is a good chance your bleeding will settle and baby will be fine 🤞

I was debating whether to post this but in a previous pregnancy my SCH was dismissed at 9 week scan as "normal" I had no bleeding either until 16 weeks when I lost 2 litres on my kitchen floor. Kept on bleeding heavily for 3 weeks then my waters broke and well.. my son was born alive (too early to be kept alive so passed away shortly after birth)

My theory is the bleeding irritated the amniotic sac which caused my waters to break. Because all throughout the bleeding and hospital stays.. the baby was fine? Until it obviously got too much.

My case is quite rare though.

Just don't let them fob you off, ask for extra scans, no heavy lifting, limit sex also! Like basically don't strain yourself in anyway just incase it gets bigger (in most cases it doesn't and goes away)

And my sister had SCH and some bleeding but by 20 weeks it was gone! Just keep an eye out z

Tokyo87 · 12/03/2021 12:36

So sorry to hear about some of your losses Thanks

I had a scan at 7 and 9 weeks, at the 9 week scan the sonographer said there was an implantion bleed but that it was nothing to worry about. I had another scan at what they said was 11+6 (I had 11+2) at the EPU due to some pain and she didn't mention anything about a bleed or heamatoma. She said everything was fine and they couldn't see a reason for the pain. I didn't ask about the implantation bleed, I have no idea why, was just so focused on everything being ok with baby.
But do you think this is something she would have mentioned if it was there? It was an internal scan if that makes a difference.
I have my official 12 week dating scan next Wednesday and will definitely ask then if nothing is mentioned.

Dhano21 · 17/03/2021 08:32

@Tokyo87 Hey beautiful let us know how your scan goes . it will be all good news

chocolatesauceandicecream · 17/03/2021 20:19

@Tokyo87 just seen your response.. literally the same thing happened 12 week scan Tuesday, after a big bleed at 10w2days nhs done nothing as they could not see any bleed on a scan two days prior to the bleed and just told me if I don't bleed again carry on as normal. Went for a private scan the day after my bleed and baby was fine and I have not bled since however private scan could not see reason why I know how it feels being none the wiser let me know how everything goes.

Tokyo87 · 18/03/2021 07:50

@Dhano21 @chocolatesauceandicecream
Thanks both for checking in, happy to say everything went well at the scan yesterday and due date is 24th sept 💕 I asked about the bleed and they could not see anything so it must have just been absorbed as I've not had any bleeding either. As most people have said these things usually work themselves out but sooo hard not to worry in the meantime.
I hope everything goes ok for you both with your pregnancies xx

chocolatesauceandicecream · 18/03/2021 08:11

@Tokyo87 please to hear that ❤️

chocolatesauceandicecream · 18/03/2021 19:20

@Tokyo87 can I ask did you have brown discharge/brown blood after wards?

Tokyo87 · 18/03/2021 20:20

@chocolatesauceandicecream no I've not had any bleeding or unusual discharge at all. I only got some very light spotting around the time of implantation a few days before bfp and that's it x

Dhano21 · 16/04/2021 07:45

hi i've just has a ultrasound done and my hematoma has increased in size to 33 x 8 x 44mm. is that considered big ? my midwife won't tell me.

Does walking make the hematoma big ?
@chocolatesauceandicecream 14 and you ?
15 now, after my very large bleed at 10w4d Everything has been fine touch wood. I was frantically googling things and tbh lots of positive stories. The docs also said to me that bleeding can be quite normal. But telling you not to worry is easier said than done x
