When did you first get to see someone to discuss elective C-Section?

I had an EMCS with my first (18 months ago) and am now 29 weeks pregnant with 2nd baby. I keep getting told at my Midwife appointments that they will refer me to speak to someone about how I want to give birth 2nd time round i.e VBAC or ELCS but to date I still haven't had an appointment through.

Any mums who had EMCS first time round, at what point during your next pregnancy did you actually get to sit down with someone and discuss your options?

I saw a consultant after my 20 week scan to discuss my maternal request ELCS. Agreed from a medical perspective anyway so I didn’t have to convince anyone. I think my midwife did the consultant referral around the 16 week mark

I think I was meant to see a consultant at about 20 weeks (same situation as you - previous EMCS and my baby ended up in NICU so v v keen to avoid that again) and ended up having a phone chat at about 23/24 weeks (and had to remind them about it). Having another chat (obvs everything done over phone at the moment) at about 32 weeks, which I think is when it will actually be booked? Although may be getting that wrong. But - yes - think you probably should have spoken to someone by now and def worth chasing up.

Oh and just to clarify - I want a ELCS. Not sure if you do!

Thanks for your responses! I thought it was around the 20 week mark from what friends have said. I guess I've just slipped through the net...several times.

Definately want a ELCS, mainly because by the time I'm due, it will have been less than 2 years since my EMCS and the thought of pushing gives me nightmares of scars exploding etc ConfusedSad.

I've chased up my community Midwife and 'someone will get back to me'. Fingers crossed!

I have my 1st appointment with the consultants on Monday, I will be 16+6wk then. I had an elective with breech twins last time but also had previous baby over 4.5kg so added risk factor. I have had 4 babies well above average size and one average so also worried about scar rupture.

I wouldn't worry too much though as they can arrange an elective at short notice. When I opted for mine I had the option of 3 days later or 9, went for the 9 as hubby was in a cast with a broken leg. His cast came off the day after birth which was better than a week with him totally useless on crutches, our twins were 17lb combined at birth too so not an easy 6 days to endure.
