Hi everyone.

I'm one of those people who didn't know I was pregnant. Sadly enough I found out in hospital. I had been feeling sick for 2 weeks and so tired. I really felt like something was so wrong.

I am now 13 weeks pregnant but found out when I was 12.

I'm so worried I've been vaping so much 4mg and drinking (not that much and occasional wine). But I'm already 12 weeks.

Please can anyone fill me in on what possible effects this may have already caused.

When you say occasional wine what exactly do you mean? One glass a week?

Ash2021xo · 04/03/2021 18:29

@beelzeboob yes , I'm barely a drinker and I had been feeling so sick I hadn't been drinking the last two weeks as I thought I had Health issues. I'm more concerned about vaping. I quit cigs about 4 months ago so my vaping was a lot.

Well vaping is a lot better than smoking so though it’s not ideal I wouldn’t worry too much. There’s not a lot you can do about it now anyway, apart from cut down as much as you can
And congratulations!

Ash2021xo · 04/03/2021 18:37

Thanks @beelzeboob I'm now cold turkey two days. But my partner and I are so worried. We weren't planning obviously but this will be our first baby and not matter which baby we just want it to have the best start. If you get what I mean. I feel so horrible.

I did talk to the doc and he reassured me baby did look healthy in the ultrasound but to stop or see what other safe options to quit were available.

It's not the best start but if you cut back or stop now it will help limit damage. Midwives are not too judgemental about smoking/vaping so I wouldn't worry too much about what you can not change.
Congratulations and good luck

Congratulations @Ash2021xo. You'll be fine, honestly - the stress of worrying about it will be worse for you than what is done and past.

Just relax now and enjoy your pregnancy Smile

If it's any help to you I vape a lot and recently found out I'm 18 weeks pregnant! Had 2 scans and all is perfect, I drank all over Christmas etc as I had no idea so please try not to worry

Ash2021xo · 04/03/2021 19:37

Thanks @babyt2020 that does help. And congratulations! Happy to hear baby is doing well.

My friend was 14 weeks before she found out she was pregnant. She'd been drinking like a fish the whole time.

Her son is fine. No issues at all.

TheBoots · 04/03/2021 19:42

I wouldn't worry, I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 14 weeks; I drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney in that time (I had two leaving parties and Christmas in that time, to give you an idea). My DD is absolutely fine.

Watto1 · 04/03/2021 19:42

If it helps, my DM didn’t find out she was pregnant with me until she was 5 months gone. She smoked and drank all that time. I’m fine! No health issues and did well academically.

Thanks everyone.
I was more worried about the vaping due to not much research. I barely drink one every two days.

Finally I had a midwife appt and going off my ultrasound the baby is ok!! She also said the same as most. It's not the best but I wasn't to know , and what matters is what happens now. After the post I baked for a few more days sadly. But now I'm off the vape and I don't have to stress.

But for anyone in the same boat , just know it should all be okay 👌
