Stupid stupid stupid !

I’m so angry at myself ! I’m 24 weeks pregnant and decided to lift a huge bag of heavy play sand I got a really bad pain in my stomach and dropped it as soon as I felt it ! I’m tender now ! But baby’s still kicking ? Could I have done harm to baby should I call hospital ??

No, I'm sure it will be fine! :) The risk is to you, not to your baby. Your ligaments are a bit loose in pregnancy and you can easily injure yourself.

I'd just use it as an excuse to put your feet up and rest for the rest of the day.

The advice around lifting things isn't really because it can harm the baby, it is more that you are more prone to harm since they muscles and ligaments are already stretching and strained! Try not to worry, if you really can't settle by all means contact your midwife but there isn't really anything you can do to the baby by lifting something.

How heavy was the sand? My DS is 15kg and I regularly pick him up.

As a PP said, the risk is more that you will hurt yourself than hurt the baby.

You won't harm baby by lifting something heavy, no.
More. Likely to harm yourself. Hence them advising not to lift heavy things. Not because you'll harm your baby

You mist likely pulled a muscle by not lifting with good form. Take it easy but do not stop moving all together as movement encourages blood flow and aids healing. Baby will be perfectly fine.

Honestly, no heavy lifting is outdated advise. I am 15+6wk and still lifting heavy weights in the gym twice a week.

Thanks everyone for your reply’s it’s really put my mind at rest !!, I’m in a lot of pain think I have pulled something but baby’s kicks are still on full form so that’s good
