Hi all, just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this:
My DSs are nearly 10 and 7. We're due our third DS in early May. I'd heard that little kids especially toddlers get very clingy as pregnancy progresses, seeing as they can't make sense of the changes, including the visual changes of seeing the belly grow. But I was not prepared for how clingy my older two have become recently. They want me around ALL the time. If I am out of their line of vision, they start calling for me. They keep asking me or their dad to sleep in their room with them. The younger one starts to cry and gets upset if I'm too tired to put them to bed (sit with them for a little chat, story, a song and then lights off).
They know where babies come from, I bought a great book and it was something we'd discussed before I even got pregnant since kids grow up so fast I wanted them to have some age-appropriate knowledge. They are very excited about their new baby brother and the pregnancy was very welcome by both of them, even though it was a surprise.
Has anyone else experienced their older kids getting clingy as pregnancy progresses? Does it get better? Is there anything I can do about it? TIA
