Smoking and pregnancy

My friend is about 8 weeks pregnant and didn't know. She's been smoking and is now worried. Anyone got any advice

Thousands upon thousands of Women smoked throughout pregnancy before it was known to be harmful and produced entirely healthy babies.

So long as she's stopped now and is as healthy as she can be for the remainder then she'll be fine. Worrying about something that can't be changed won't help x

The damage is done via the placenta. Her dc doesn't have one just yet..

She will be fine, I smoked until I found out. My friend smoked until she was 20 weeks and I’ve worked with women who smoked all the way through. Whilst I don’t condone it, their babies were fine.

She'll be fine. If she needs support to stay off the fags she should ask her MW for a referral - some areas have specialist support - or she can self-refer to general stop smoking services

Sorry to jump on this post but I’m literally a constant panic attack at the moment. We’ve been trying to conceive since 2014, with 8 miscarriages in between. As well as the miscarriages, we had a stillborn baby girl in January of this year. After the trauma, we decided we weren’t going to try anymore. After years on not smoking/drinking ttc, I’ve been smoking and I’ve just found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant!! I’m so so worried 🙈🙈🙈🙈
