Hi has anyone taken them through out pregnancy or for a while in pregnancy. I've taken cyclizine since 6 weeks (wouldn't of been able to eat without it) then omeprazole from 11 weeks. I'm now 13 weeks still get morning sickness obviously I want to try and stop taking them asap.

I am on Omeprazole, been on it since mid December, I am 34 weeks now and plan on being on it for the duration. They have also given me some cyclizine and said it’s fine to take that too, I haven’t started it yet though.

I took both through out pregnancy and had no issues.
My lo has reflux and has been on omperazole herself since she was 8 weeks.

I am on both and have been since about 7/8 weeks im now 21 and have managed to cut down on the cyclizine but still very much need it, i have HG so will probably be on it throughout my pregnancy

I had HG badly and took Omeprazole throughout. Every time I tried to stop taking it (on GP advice) I would end up back in hospital needing to be dehydrated. A nurse told me that the reason they suggest you stop is that the legally can’t do ‘studies’ on pregnant women so they can’t say it’s entirely safe for both baby and mum but the research suggests that it is fine and I certainly had a very healthy baby. It is also a lot more costly than other drugs so they tend to try you on those first and try to get you to try other drugs instead at later points but for me it was the only thing that worked and I even had issues during birth when I wasn’t taking it but as soon as I had my baby I was suddenly healed and could finally eat and be in the same room as food once more.

A friend also took O during her cancer treatment and agrees it is a wonder drug. I tried C but it didn’t work for me.

www.hyperemesis.org/about-hyperemesis-gravidarum/ Is a good website if you want to read up more. As you might have morning sickness but it also might be hyperemesis if you are struggling. Best wishes. X

I've taken omeprazole since 12 weeks, now 26 weeks and I have zero plans to stop taking it. I don't want to suffer with heartburn and reflux every evening it was making me bloody miserable!

crazybunchofdolls · 26/02/2021 22:25

I took for about 6-7 months in my pregnancy! I had to continue omeprazole the whole time.

Have you read up on the pregnancy sickness support website? It really lifted a lot of my fears.

IMO if you need it, you need it b

as soon as I had my baby I was suddenly healed and could finally eat and be in the same room as food once more

This is what I hope happens to me. I normally really like vegetables and salad (yuk, just typing it makes me feel ill) but literally have given them up as a lost cause. I eat none in this pregnancy, they just make me sick. It’s getting hard to believe I will ever eat them again.

Apologies to anyone also made to feel sicker by me referring to them!

Yes plus the jabs, plus fragmin plus morphine all throughout pregnancy
I was an absolute wreck, baby perfectly fine. By the evening of having her in the morning, I was starving hungry for the first time in months - had lost 3 stone during the pregnancy due to hyperemesis

Ghhh · 28/02/2021 11:02

Aww thanks everyone. I'm definitely going to keep taking them as long as I need then. I suppose you just worry but if it was harmful I'm guessing I wouldn't of even got to where I am. Especially cyclizine its really helped I can definitely eat more still feel sick but before that I could barely eat anything I thought I'd end up in hospital xx
