Hello! I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and have been offered the vaccine next week through work (I work in social care with vulnerable people and we have all been offered it, although my role isn’t frontline & I’m currently home-based).

I’m late twenties & no underlying health conditions so wasn’t expecting to be offered the vaccine before my baby is born in May, but now I have been I’m considering it... I know it’s not recommended for pregnant women due to lack of testing, but I have a couple of pregnant friends who are also CEV who have been given it, and I know there’s no live virus in it so it doesn’t ‘give you Covid’.

I’ve never been particularly nervous about Covid but I am starting to get a bit apprehensive now I’m going into my third trimester as I really wouldn’t want to risk getting ill now for my baby’s sake!

I’ve asked DH and a couple of friends who have expressed different opinions, so interested if anyone here has had the vaccine while pregnant, or knows anyone who has? I am going to ask my midwife too. Thanks!

I’d ask your midwife and GP. I know three pregnant ladies who have had it, because their GP recommended it, and one who hasn’t been called yet, but I don’t know the ins and outs of the decisions to give it to them.

I've been offered it and was confused why. 35 weeks pregnant, 30, no particular vulnerabilities.

I called the GP and she told me the new advice is that being pregnant makes you more vulnerable to long covid and enough women have had the jab now for them to balance the risk against the jab and the risk against having COVID - that it's worth taking.

I was initially dead set against having the jab whilst pregnant - but after some research I've decided to book for next week. I'm also seeing my consultant for an appt beforehand anyway so I'll double check again but I'm pretty happy with my decision. I had whooping cough and flu jab with no issues and this is based on the same science.

In all honesty I feel quite relieved.

I’d do a bit of reading and book a chat with your (GP. As far as I understand it, there’s no reason to think it’s harmful, but as there hasn’t been time to really test that, they are only vaccinating pregnant women when they have other conditions that make them vulnerable. But it’s changing all the time of course so get some advice.

I'm 29 with Type 1 Diabetes and am 29 weeks pregnant. I was offered the vaccine a few weeks ago but I am shielding and will be until I am induced at 37 weeks. I spoke to my Diabetes Dr who said as I'm shielding the risk of covid is very low for me so he would recommend waiting until my baby is here. He explained that generally if the risk of covid outweighs the risk of the vaccine then it is advised to get it.

I’m 37 weeks and wish someone would offer me it. We are five time more likely to end up in the ICU if we get it last 28 weeks and considering the amount of people who catch covid once they are in hospital I would be thrilled to feel more protected when I head in to give birth. I’m also a scientist and have no reservations about the vaccine in pregnancy.

I had it at about 18 weeks. Also had flu and whooping cough vaccines. It isnt a live vaccine and I was very reassured after speaking to an obstetric consultant at work. Having seen pregnant women with Covid being really poorly (in hosp) and knowing cases of women we've sent to ICU I felt huge relief to have the vaccine. It is however a difficult choice because there isnt years of evidence as we are used to having for most of the choices we make in pregnancy.
