Gynea appt 9 months after giving birth

Hello,

I did post this in postnatal but it doesn't seem busy so I thought I'd try here.

Just wondering if anyone knows why I've been given a gynae appt 9 months after giving birth. Bit of background:- I gave birth just over 8 months ago, I had bleeding in my 3rd trimester but they couldn't find a cause, at birth I had a 3rd degree tear which required surgery, I was referred to physio which was by phone, I had my gp check at 8 weeks but I've never had any appt from the hosp until now. My hospital trust are doing as much as they can by phone (as I'm sure most are in these times) but this appt is in person.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be for? Did people have any hosp appts after giving birth?

Is it a smear test by any chance? Only thing I could maybe think of?

Some places follow up ladies who've had 3rd degree tears?

@SnooperTrooper12345 I had my smear 12 weeks after giving birth. I was keen to get it booked in after the bleeding! Thanks though.

@SockQueen is it usually so long afterwards? It is still quite sore, especially when being intimate, so I was planning on asking whether that's normal anyway regardless of what the appts for.

I also had low iron and salt but I've never had any follow up blood tests so I wonder if they'll do that or whether that's not standard

Tbh who knows what is normal with appointment times in Covid! But definitely ask those questions. They may not do bloods on the day but can either arrange it for you or suggest you go to your GP for those checks.
