Hi

Im currently 33+5 and have just been admitted for high BP.
First reading 159/93
Then 151/85
Then 189/ 95 (given meds at this point)
Then 130/84
Now 141/over 80 something.
The found a trace (she said it was only a trace and nothing concerning) of protein in my wee and something else that could suggest an infection.
Ive had bloods done but nobody has come back to me with the results.

DS was born at 34 weeks due to signs of preeclampsia and PPROM so im worried this will be the same. The hospital must be concerned as they are struggling for beds due to being so busy, yet still admitted me.

On the flip, wouldnt they just give me some meds and send me on my way until induction at 38 weeks (i have gestational diabetes so planned induction)
Or once you have high BP, delivery is inevitable?

On

Usually they don't unless it gets dangerously high whilst on medication. Or it turns to pre eclampsia

ChampagneCommunist · 25/02/2021 21:29

I got to my due date, with very HBP, was induced on that day.

I was very closely monitored every day for several weeks before hand and had to pee on those sticks, to make sure there was no protein in my urine (sign of pre-eclampsia)

I'm guessing you're being kept in as your blood pressure isn't quite under control yet. I wouldn't say delivery is imminent, as the preference would still be to get you to term first, but your BP needs to be under control first. Hopefully you'll get some answers tomorrow.

Ah good.
He mentioned delivering but more about cases in general and i dont think mine is excessively high.
My BP has been on the higher side throughout pregnancy. My consultant said she wasnt concerned last week.

Ok, feeling more optimistic that i will be home tomorrow

My BP was completely uncontrolled during the last month of my third pregnancy.
It was really high but the meds made it go too low. They let me out for weekends if I promised to be good! DD arrived 2 weeks early but fine.

andadietcoke · 25/02/2021 21:50

I had meds for BP and one overnight stay for monitoring but went all the way to my planned section (twins)

emeraldcity2000 · 25/02/2021 21:52

I was diagnosed at 34 weeks - with daily monitoring and a lot of bp meds they got me to 37 weeks and then delivered. Very grateful for the brilliant care.

I have chronic hypertension, diagnosed as a teenager and medicated most of my life. I'm 31 weeks and medication has kept my BP controlled until this week. I had severe pain due to a kidney stone which caused irritable uterus syndrome and kicked off 34 hours of Braxton Hicks contractions every few minutes. My BP shot through the roof. The big concern was if it was pre-eclampsia, but my urine tested negative for the protein they look for. Since my BP did get high, they've increased my medication, are asking me to check my BP at home twice a day and see the Dr once a week. Barring another kidney stone or really painful event though, I don't anticipate any further issues with my BP and there is no reason I should have to deliver early. Best wishes to you for your pregnancy

Thanks all for the advice.

My BP has come down with the medication given which im glad about.
The nurse has just informed me that my blood results did show high levels of uric acid which is apparently what the doctors look for in pre-eclampsia.
She said doc will review it today so i have no idea what this means for me going home Confused

Glad your BP has come down. Not so great about the uric acid level findings. Hopefully the doctors will see you soon and you can discuss what's going to happen next.

Everything crossed you can get to go home before long.

Dyra · 28/02/2021 12:18

How are you getting on @Frustration21? Hope everything is ok.

Frustration21 · 28/02/2021 12:38

Sorry, i forgot to update.

Im now home, was discharged on friday night.

They have diagnosed mild pre-clampsia and wasnt overly concerned Hmm

Its slightly worrying that i have 4 weeks of worry that it could worsen but ive borrowed my mums BP machine to keep an eye on things and so far, BP is fine

That sucks about the pre-eclampsia diagnosis, but great that you got to go home again. Good that you can monitor yourself at home. You still on medication for your blood pressure? Only a few weeks to go at least. Good luck! ❤️

Frustration21 · 01/03/2021 07:05

Yeah, im on BP tablets now until presumably, i give birth.
The swelling in my feet have reduced slightly which comforts me in the fact that i definitely read my body and made the right decision in getting it checked out.

I should be induced at 38 weeks as i have gestational diabetes, not sure if this diagnoses will possibly bring that forward a week, i presume not though.

Thanks :-)
