8 or 9 weeks for early scan?? Which is best?

Hey all.
I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant today and dying too go for an early scan for reassurance. My first NHS scan is booked for early april.
This scan would be private, and I'm wondering whether I should go next week at 8 weeks, or the following week when I am 9 weeks. Is there much difference in what i will be able to see on the ultrasound? Will I be able to see much if I go next week or should I wait longer?

Thanks x

Go for the 9 if you can wait that long.

The later the better.

IME early scans have never been reassuring!

These are mine at 7.5 and 9.5

If I'd had a private scan I'd have gone for 10 wreks

Congratulations! I agree that I haven't found high street reassurance scan reassuring. If it's reassurance you're after I would recommend an obstetrician lead ultrasound. It will be more expensive, but if there are any problems then they can give you comprehensive information and advice.

This was my 8+4 scan. I had scans at 5+4, 6+2 and 7 weeks as well. We saw heartbeats at all, but the 8+4 one was incredible. We saw the baby moving around and even waving!

I booked in for 9+1 for private scan but ended up going 8+4 as I was impatient. Any time after 7 weeks they can hear heartbeat so you would be fine at 8 or 9.

Thanks for your advice. Those ultra sound pics really help. That 8+4 scan is lovely!

The later the better if you can wait - the odds of a successful pregnancy increase so much each week in those early weeks and the baby develops loads as well. If you can't wait you will still see a lot at 8wks - I could see arms waving on my 8wk scan. Sadly MC at 8+6 but that is very rare after seeing HB at 8wks.

Congratulations!!
I would wait until 9 weeks if you can as it’s only two weeks away. I’d also advise not to go to a high street (window to the womb type place), go for somewhere reputable that NHS also refer to. You’ll get best advice, rather than false reassurance xx
