Bruised eye and blurry vision - pregnancy related or not?

25 weeks pregnant, and today one of my eyes is quite swollen, feels bruised to touch and my vision in that eye is quite blurry. Don’t want to bother my midwife if it’s not even pregnancy related but googling it seems to suggest that any vision problems are reported. Anyone else had this? I had my BP checked last week and I haven’t been told of any concerns, it was 136/80.

I think you should get an emergency optician appointment. Midwife or GP won’t have the right equipment to look at your eye properly.

Do you mean your actual eye ball is bruised? Either way you definitely need an emergency optician appointment.

It’s not bruised in that I haven’t done anything to make it bruised. But it feels bruised to touch and looks swollen and a little red.

But do you mean around your eye or the ball?

@TheWaif the eyeball. When I touch my eyelid with my eye closed, it feels really tender and achey.

Definitely call your optician and see if they can look, but I would also call your midwife or GP as well as a lot of eye problems can be linked to something else unrelated to your eye and the optician will refer you back to another service anyway. It's definitely worth getting anything with your eyes checked.

OP - do you wear glasses?

I had something similar at 26 weeks, it was like my eye was swollen and I couldn’t really open it. Then I got flashing lights, went over to maternity and they completely checked me over and I was fine. They put it down to a pregnancy migraine. I’ve not had one since.

But get checked out.

Thanks everyone. I saw the optician this morning and there’s basically a spot forming under my eyelid which is causing the pain and heavy feeling. Blush it’s so hard to know what’s pregnancy related and what’s not!
