I'm due 30th August and would very much like to go on holiday this year (in the uk). How many weeks pregnant would you consider going on a uk holiday?

I drove back form Spain 20 days before dd was born!! On her due date!!
Booked a UK trip when I was 35 weeks with ds..
Ended up having an emcs en route to our romantic week end away...
Carry your notes and don't forget your bag. There are hospitals a - plenty remember!

If it's just in the UK then I'd happily go up to around 36 weeks.

I think it depends on how worried you will be about being away. Physically I'd be absolutely fine going now (34 weeks) but spent a day in hospital last week with suspected premature labour and was really glad to be able to go to my local hospital and head back to my own bed after being kept in overnight. I'm quite an anxious FTM though. If going to whatever hospital is nearby wouldn't bother you then you could go fairly late - I'd just make sure to take your notes/hospital bag and have a quick look to check where the nearest hospitals are, get the numbers etc so you know who to call just in case. You can't lock yourself in the house for the whole third trimester and it would be lovely to get a holiday in before baby arrives!

I went on a 2 day trip in the UK at 35 weeks. It was only 2 hours away though - I wouldn't want to be too far just in case. And take your notes with you!

I'd aim to be home by 38wk with a UK holiday, I've never had any early labors though.

I’m due around the 18th of September, we have booked a holiday to Devon in our tourer on the 21-28th of august! It was booked before I knew we were expecting, we are still going to go.

I think UK holiday you’d be ok to go up until 36/37 weeks if you feel well enough.

I went abroad at 28 weeks with DS and 35 weeks with DD, would have happily done it again with this pregnancy if it weren’t for lockdown.

Things you’d need to consider are, would you be happy to access the antenatal/birthing services at the local hospital. Just remember like PP says to take your notes, bag and car seat.

I’d also think about missing any midwife appointments during the time you are away, so perhaps schedule your trip so you’re back for those.

Probably 36 weeks

MagdasMadHouse · 23/02/2021 00:08

Not once I was in the third trimester. I have travelled pregnant and had complications abroad though

ShinyGreenElephant · 23/02/2021 00:11

In the UK I would go up to about 35-36 weeks. I'm 37 weeks now and feel ready to pop so wouldn't go anywhere now.

QueenGoblin · 23/02/2021 00:18

When I had my first, in 2017, I was due at the same time. The last proper trip I did was to Hong Kong for a week at the end of May/start of June.

If it was just a UK trip, probably up 37 weeks as I went away for a wedding at 37 weeks which was tiring but fine. It was only about an hour away from home. After that I was knackered and very relieved to be finishing up work and not having to commute or really get up off the sofa unless necessary!

PFin · 23/02/2021 01:24

35 or 36 weeks would be about my limit. I dont know if your a FTM or not but I know how uncomfortable I was, I had been living with my boyfriend practically the whole time but those last few weeks the only place I wanted to be was at home, in my own bed.

Rtmhwales · 23/02/2021 01:38

26ish weeks. But only because I had DS at 31 weeks spontaneously with no prior warning and then we were stuck there until he could be transferred. Wouldn't want to be far away from home.

PrimeraVez · 23/02/2021 05:32

In the same country? Maybe 36 weeks? But I would take my notes etc with me and I probably wouldn't go anywhere that was more than a few hours drive away.

I went to the UK for a holiday at around 34 weeks (we live in the UAE) but felt ok doing that as the UK is home and my family are there and I knew that if I did get stuck there, either having the baby or with complications, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I don't think I would want to travel somewhere overseas that was unknown beyond that point.

MagdasMadHouse · 23/02/2021 07:50

In the UK probably 36/37 weeks

BellsaRinging · 23/02/2021 07:55

I went to France at 7 months and didnt think twice, knowing their healthcare system is great (this was obvs pre-Brexit so no concerns re: cover). Went away to a family celebration a couple of weeks before due date with number 2. As long as you aren't missing key monitoring appointments and know where the nearest hospital is I dont see the issue.
