Hi girls, advice needed!

I've been taking iron tablets now for a couple of weeks, since around 30 Weeks pregnant (now almost 33) and all of a sudden I've started getting a really bad stomach. I'm going to the toilet about 3/4 times a day. Ive been waking up at around 5/6am every day to run to the toilet with cramps. Sometimes it's loose bowels, other times normal but still going way more than usual, and my tummy always cramps before hand as if I've eaten spicy food.

My diet hasn't changed, I haven't ate anything off as far as I know but it's been like this for the last 3/4 days. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this on iron tablets, that's all I can put it down too!

Thank you :)

Oh wow, that’s very low. I would ask for the infusion sooner rather than later. At least if you get it done fairly soon and it hasn’t come up much, you still have time to get another infusion before baby’s arrival.

Managed to get ahold of midwife. She's organised for me to get bloods. I think she gets the fact that we need to know if this is anaemia because it can and does increase risks during labour and delivery.

Gp told me 'what will be will be' with blood lost during delivery. Not always true!!! Anaemia increases risk of pph (like I had at last birth). Increases risks of maternal morbidity and mortality. Increases risks in baby too!!!

The conversation I had with him really upset me. Made me feel like iron tablets were the only possibility for treatment ever. Didn't feel like any of my concerns were valid and like I was being totally unreasonable.

When I mentioned other possible treatment options that existed besides the tablets, like infusion, he said, 'not with levels like yours' despite not having been tested in almost 7 weeks!!! So he doesn't even know what my current results would be.

Just feel shit now...
