I have HG and im on cyclizine 3 times a day i have managed to get this down to twice daily but scared they are going to ask me to stop the medication and i dont want to go back to feeling terrible. Hi, i am currently on anti sickness tablets but i dont feel they work that well, i am 13 weeks this week & been in medication a couple of week as didn't want the tiredness aswell as sickness. But i am shattered all the time.
I just take them now when i feel really bad & it my wits end.
How far along are you?

Yep, i was on cyclizine all through my first (born 33 weeks) and third (lost 15 weeks) pregnancy but it was useless for me. I was then put on odansatron for my fifth pregnancy (born 36 weeks) and it was amazing. I was on them till my baby was a few week old and no one tried to take them off me.

yes - I was on anti sickness medication for HG for the majority of both my pregnancies. Tried a variety of different drugs including cyclizine. In the end metoclopramide was the one that worked best for me.

It was a long time ago now (my children are 18 and nearly 14), but I was taking them until well into the 3rd trimesters. The HG did ease off a bit towards the end though so I don't think I was taking it as much.
Hope you feel better soon. HG is really awful. good luck

Aw thank goodness lol, i have been worried they would ask me to stop taking them. The cyclizine works for me and im now actually able to enjoy my pregnancy, i just wasnt sure if taking the medication up until birth would be safe for myself and baby

I was on cyclizine and ondansetron (and something else I can't remember) until a week or so after my dc2 was born. My GP did repeatedly try and withhold the prescription (they would only give me 2 week's worth at a time) so each time I ended up in hospital on a drip and then back on the medication.
My midwife encouraged me to cut down and see how it went at various points but didn't recommend stopping completely.
You might find the HG eases off so you can cut down or stop at a later date. I know at 28 weeks with my first the sickness just stopped so fingers crossed for you.

I have managed to cut it down to only needing it in the morning and afternoon so hopefully in time i will be able to come off them entirely

I was on cyclizine and odansetron until 18 weeks (now 23wks) when my HG started to become bearable without them, but my GP told me many times she would prescribe them for the whole pregnancy if required and had no qualms about doing so. She said she had done this for several patients with HG. I found that really reassuring, and every gynae doctor I saw when I was admitted to hospital for HG told me the same thing. I believe the slight increased risk with ondansetron (which i was told required further study) is there in the first trimester and falls after that. Good luck, HG is grim and I wouldn't wish it on anyone xx

I had HG and cyclizine saved me. There were days where I'd not eaten for fear of throwing up and could only get around on all fours because I didn't have the energy to walk. Take them.
