I am a bit confused about how to get scan pictures at our 12 week tomorrow, I can’t find any clear information. Do we get a free pic or do you have to prepay in a machine? Can anyone help Smile

Can't comment on your hospital but from what I can tell most of them are giving them to you for free during COVID. At all of my scans the sonographer has just handed me a roll of 3 pictures at the end of the scan. Hopefully someone who's been to your hospital will be able to tell you if it's the same there!

My hospital are giving them free at the moment due to Covid.
Got 2 last time.
Usually though they will get some images of baby, ask how many you want and then you pay at the machine after. They're usually £5 each so maybe take some money just incase

I had a scan a few weeks ago in epu at wythenshawe and the lady printed me off a scan pic for free. I have my 12 week scan at st marys next week so im sure I’ll get a free pic then too. 🤞🏽 I did with my last baby but that was 10years ago LOL so things might have changed.
Congratulations 🎉 😊 are you giving birth at Wythenshawe or St Marys?

Had my 12 week scan there a couple of weeks ago and they just print you a couple off in the room, you don’t need to buy anything.

You have to buy a token from the machine in the waiting area and present it to the sonographer.

This was 2018 pre Covid so may have changed. It was £2.50 per picture.

Thank you all!
We have chosen Wythenshawe, after some deliberating!
Curious as to the reason why Covid is resulting in free pictures at the moment?

Probably to stop unnecessary handling of cash/change for machine/tokens.

BlueberryPancake21 · 22/02/2021 12:11

I was given free pics to reduce handling of cash and because partners weren't allowed. Even at 20wk scan where DP was allowed he had to wait outside in the snow until I was called in - even though I phoned him straightaway he missed half of the scan by the time he made it to the room. I'm guessing it stops a lot of grief for the hospital!

I’m 22 weeks and at Whythenshawe. For both 12 and 20 week scan they’ve printed off scan pictures for us with no charge

Elbs · 03/03/2021 10:54

Thank you ladies for your help! we were given 2 scan pictures free and the machine isn’t in use. Importantly, baby looking healthy Smile
