Early pregnancy scan - two sacs one heartbeat

Hey guys, I’m not looking for medical reassurance as such I’m just looking for some advice or if anyone has had any experience with this situation.

I went for a private early pregnancy scan yesterday and we saw one very happy healthy baby measuring 6 weeks and 5 days with a good strong heart beat. However, the dr also saw a second sac. But couldn’t see a baby or a heartbeat. She was reluctant to definitively say if there’s a possibility of twins or if it’s possible I was pregnant with twins and lost one (vanishing twin syndrome?) she advised we ensure our dr/midwife is informed at our booking scan so they can investigate further.

Any advice, experience or thoughts? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Problem is you are quite early on and embryos can implant at different times. If it were me I would get another scan earlier than dating to see how the empty sac develops. It may just be a bit behind the other or it could be a vanishing twin which you would have lost if it were a singleton. Either way I wouldn't want to wait so long to find out. Good luck

Thank you for your reply. Im thinking the same. My minds working overtime. I’m the type of person who likes all the info. I’m overjoyed we have one happy little baby growing but I’d like to plan if there’s more than one 🙈
