I'm 12 weeks (nearly 13) and still feel nervous about telling people and being excited.
I had some bleeding early on so was really worried but everything was ok..

Honestly, I don’t think I bought anything until I was about seven months. You really don’t need much! I told people at 19 weeks.

I was like this and still really nervous at 12 weeks. I started ordering some cute clothes a few weeks ago when I was around 17 weeks. It was also nice to do during lockdown, it was a fun little activity to look through the packages when they turned up and made it feel more real!

I started buying after my dating scan last week, now 14+5.
We have a lot of stuff in storage from older kids anyway. I've got a few new clothes only this baby will have worn and a travel cot for the living room so far. I will buy one big item a month to spread the cost but wait until later on for things like nappies/wioes as I need to make space. Getting more shelves and clearing the garage to make room. Got the decluttering bug atm and been working my way around the house lol.

It's so exciting isn't it! I think we started buying little things at around 17 weeks after we had a gender/well being scan. Started with the bigger stuff, pram and car seat etc at about 22 weeks. Now nearly 28 weeks and only a few things left to buy! 😇 totally personal choice, we wanted to try and spread the budget!

Bought most stuff after we knew the sex. But I started making a shopping list at 10 ish weeks ago if I saw any good bargains or second hand deals I could snap them up!

triceratops12 · 21/02/2021 11:53

30 weeks and even that felt like tempting fate

BertieBotts · 21/02/2021 11:54

I should say also after the anatomy scan. Not just Sex related! But any major decision changing birth defects would usually show up then.

SnooperTrooper12345 · 21/02/2021 11:56

It's all personal I think. There is no right or wrong answer.
Personally for me, I've never bought stuff before at least 30 weeks.

My partner lost two babies at 24 and 25 weeks and it's just something I don't feel comfortable buying for before then.

Even now at 34 weeks, although my 3rd and I have stuff at home already, the stuff I do need I've only just started buying

ohidoliketobe · 21/02/2021 11:56

After a clear anomaly scan for all 3. It's personal preference, but i didn't feel comfortable until that point

peachypetite · 21/02/2021 11:57

Bought a few small bits after nothing flagged up at 20 week scan and then bigger things aftern30 weeks.

ftmum94 · 21/02/2021 12:12

I started buying clothes in the Christmas sales at 10 weeks - early although I had had an early scan at 8 weeks. Now 18+4.

MrsB2019x · 21/02/2021 12:16

I started buying some bits after my 12 week scan. I think I’ll be more relaxed spreading the cost of everything rather than waiting another couple of months. All personal preference though!

Mylittlesandwich · 21/02/2021 12:24

The pram we wanted was on a very very good deal at 18 weeks so I ordered it. It was delivered to my mums. We bought some other things after the 20 week scan mostly so we could spread the cost. My cot was picked up second hand at 25 weeks. I intended to buy most little things like clothes later on but it became clear my PGP was going to leave me housebound and I wanted to buy things myself so I got them around the 25 week mark too while I could still hobble around a bit.
