Cyclogest pessaries from 16 weeks to stop premature birth?

Hi all, I’ve had 2 previous premature babies, 32 and 35 weeks and am currently 16 weeks pregnant. The doctor has prescribed me cyclogest pessaries 400g to take 1 a night up until 34 weeks if I get that far. Has anybody else taken these ? Anyone been successful?

I had them from 24 weeks I think, as my cervix had shortened, they kept me stable, I stopped using them at 36 weeks and did start to dilate after I stopped them, but somehow managed to go to 40+5, was 1cm at 37 weeks, 3-4cm at 40. I had quite a strong dose, three a day

That’s good ! My cervix is closed and will be having scans every 3 weeks to monitor this. However they still want me to take it as my previous were both premature. Did you have the pessaries? They don’t include an applicator or anything so I’m just guessing you to it yourself ?

Yes I had the pessaries too, and yep no applicator, good that you've got scans every three weeks :)

Have taken them from 11+5 due to having a 28 weeker, also had a stitch placed at 13+5 cervix was short but stable went from 2.6-3.2 then hit 28 weeks went down to 2cm with funnelling to stitch dose was up 2 400mg twice a day and cervix had gone back up 2 2.5cm currently 32 weeks
You can used them rectally. Much nicer that way as no discharge and they won't irritate cervix x
