Brown mucus discharge at 7 weeks

Hi all,

So I'm about 7 + 3 with my first pregnancy. Had some light pink spotting after sex a few weeks ago which was only on one wipe and not surprising after how painful orgasm was, and I had no further spotting or unusual discharge until today.

Then I went to the loo this morning and noticed some rusty coloured spotting on my pantyliner. Since then I have had brown spotting on and off. It seems to be quite stringy/mucus like, kind of like EMCM. It has gone from darker to now a more beige colour. I've had mild cramping since before i got my BFP with occasional sharper twinging and that hasnt changed.

I'm obviously terrified that this is the start of a MC but am trying to hold into hope that it is not red or even blood like.

Has anyone had this before or have any idea what it is? Will try and call GP or EPU tomorrow, although I really don't think they will see me unless it is heavier x

Can't really help with the discharge but I rang EPU when I was 8 weeks with cramps and stabbing pain, no blood and they booked me an early scan for the next morning so I would definitely give them a ring!

I bled with my first baby, I was absolutely terrified but apparently it’s quite common. Went on to have a Gorgeous boy.

I had brown discharged for a day too during my 7th week, went for a private scan just to be reassured and everything was fine. I’m now in my second trimester and touchwood everything is going well. I know how scary it can be so just want to offer my story so you feel better. If you are really anxious about it you can go for a private scan x But Im sure all will be fine apparently it’s quite common (easier said than done I know)

I had this with my first. They said brown discharge is old blood so that’s good news! I bled aswell but the scan reassured me at 8 weeks.

Thank you all. I actually managed to get a private scan last night and saw a healthy bean with a nice strong heartbeat ❤. As you say, it must have been old blood. This whole pregnancy thing is rather stressful isn't it but totally worth it for the joy of that scan 😊
