I'm pregnant with no.2 and interested to hear what you bought for no.2 + that you didn't already have from first time? If anything?

New nappies and vitamin drops and that was it. Very short gap between mine so we used everything we had from DC1.

Just newborn and 0-3 sleep suits as I had given my first ones away.

I have clothes sorted for 0-2 years for either sex, girls for much later as we have more of them. Still have bought a few new clothes that only this one will have worn.
We got rid of travel cot, bouncer, normal cot (they were a bit minging after illnesses), nursing pillow and pram (last was well worn and a double for twins).
Already got a travel cot for the living room as it was on offer for less than £52, got bassinet, changing table and mobile on it so not a basic modle (yes I've had it up and packed away again lol).
I also want an easy prep bottle machine this time, that would have been so good with the twins.
We are looking at getting a multimac car seat to make our 7 seater an 8 seater too, not a cheap thing but cheaper than a minibus.

Double buggy, and new car that fits the double buggy in the boot!

Second monitor camera and eventually a second cot, but that's it!

A few new clothes, Muslins, baby blanket, new breast pump, new play mat, new car seat and extra seat for the pushchair. Everything else we have from ds 🤞everything comes out of the garage intact

I have a 9 year gap between my two so I have to but everything again from scratch 🙈

FTMF30 · 17/02/2021 17:13

I'm also pregnant with no.2. I plan to buy a A buggy board, but thats not really for DC2.

Maybe a few more bits of clothes but have plenty of DC1 that can be reused. Other than that, not much else apart from the obvious (nappies, etc.)

SecondhandTable · 17/02/2021 17:59

Ah, so not much!

For us, depending on the sex of the baby we may need to buy some more clothes.

I am also looking to buy a second-hand bedside crib (any recommendations?). Last time we rented a Bed Nest, but they don't do the rental scheme in the UK anymore (and they have more-than-doubled the price of it in the EU too!). Will also need new mattress for this.

I also want to rent a double electric breast pump, I think you can do this with Medela? Last time I didn't manage to BF for long and I was quite happy with expressing but we were broke then and could only afford a single, manual pump, which after the first month or so meant I couldn't express big enough quantities to keep it going really which I am sad about. So thought an initially short-term rental would be affordable and then if I don't use it or don't like it I could just return but at least I've got it if I need it.

Buggy board.

Also considering a swing or something that moves by itself as we used what used to be my bouncy chair which was v useful but keeping it constantly in motion was bordering on traumatic sometimes Grin.

Baby carrier. 18 months between babies.

Munkeenut · 17/02/2021 18:07

We had a girl first and then a boy. We bought nothing new apart from a mattress as our old one had mould spots from being stored. DS wears all his sister's clothes.

Caspianberg · 17/02/2021 18:46

I think if we had a second, those newborn seats you can add to stokke highchair would be on the list. So they are higher up out the way of other children when needed

boymum88 · 17/02/2021 19:08

@SecondhandTable yes you can rent them from Medela for about £50 a month I think. You can also buy hospital grade pumps that arnt to expensive. I plan on exclusively pumping again and have got a 2nd hand spectra s1 from eBay for £40 and new pump parts £20 of Amazon (the pumps are fine 2nd hand as closed system) if you want new £140 from Amazon.

Braxos · 17/02/2021 21:39

My first two are 7 & 6 now, so I have nothing baby left!

On my list are:
Newborn Cloth Nappies
Sling
Moses Basket
Car seat
Buggy
Some clothes

Thats it! I bfed my last until he was 2.5yrs so presume i'll be all good on that front, and babies dont really need alot!

8dpwoah · 18/02/2021 08:53

Didn't have a Moses basket for DD (used the pram carrycot instead as it was lovely and wanted to make lots of use of it) but will do for this one so s/he can have somewhere out of the way of DD that isn't on wheels 😂 new mattresses for carrycot and next to me as they have been in the loft.

New vests, maybe a few new sleepsuits but we didn't know the sex before DD arrived so my clothes up to 3 months are unisex so probably not much else. Some new reusable wipes as ours are grotty now, I've got millions of muslins but still feel like this one should have some new of their own. New bottle teats, want to bf again but prefer to be prepared for both.

Maybe some new bits for the sensory toy box and some soft black and white books as I know DD will want to 'play' with her sibling.

8dpwoah · 18/02/2021 09:47

Oh and I guess I'll have to go through the over-zealously stocked medicine cabinet we have for PFB 😂 and see what has gone unused, what's been used but out of date, and what's fine. Gripe water and the yellow nappy rash cream spring to mind. And a mountain of Milton 🙄
