So I’m 11 weeks 2 days and I’ve just got a bad feeling that somethings gone wrong because I had nausea all the way through and now that’s suddenly stopped w few days ago and I have no other symptoms the only symptom I have is constipation. Also I don’t look pregnant I know it might be to early to show but I’m keep seeing pics of people at this stage and they have a little bump. I also tried to use a hand held Doppler and I could not find the heart beat. All these things added up are just worrying me is al of this normal or? I should be having my scan soon I should be receiving the letter in the next few days but I’m just really worried

First things first put down the hand held doppler. I'm assuming your not trained to even know where to find a heart beat plus, it's almost impossible at 11 weeks to hear a heart beat. 16 weeks is when a midwife will look to hear the heart beat with a doppler.
Your symptoms may have reduced as your hormones have settled it's not unheard of so please don't worry that there's something wrong due to those disappearing.
Have you had your 12 week scan through? If not can you book a last minute private scan for reassurance?

Doublechins · 17/02/2021 09:13

Even a highly trained midwife wouldn't be able to find a heartbeat with a Doppler at 11 weeks.

Lots of women find symptoms settle around this time. Do you have a dating scan booked soon?

OP I think you might do well to channel your nerves into chasing up your scan appointment as that will at least give you a date to aim for. They should have you booked in and might tell you the date on the phone if the letter is being processed/sent as you'd expect to be going next week or week after really.
Agree with the others, symptoms fade and the Doppler doesn't come out til 16 weeks at the earliest at the midwife so try not to worry about those two things.

Squish3 · 17/02/2021 09:20

@Beckyxox12 Throw away the Doppler! They cause no end of stress and worry! Lots of midwives won’t even try at 16 weeks as it can be hard to find and cause unnecessary panic!!

Do you have a date for your 12 week scan yet? Your hormones are probably just settling down which happens for a lot of people around that time! Is this your first baby? I believe people tend to start showing a bit earlier with later pregnancies but the first takes a while. And, I might be wrong, but any proper bump at 11 weeks is probably bloating rather than baby 🤷🏻‍♀️

JemimaTiggywinkle · 17/02/2021 09:20

Don’t worry, this all sounds normal.

The baby is still minuscule, so it’s fine not to have a bump.. for people that do show this early it’s usually hormonal bloating.

You definitely wouldn’t be able to find a heartbeat yourself... even at my 16 midwife appointment they didn’t listen to the heartbeat because they said they often can’t find it because the baby is so small at that stage.

Have you got your 12 week scan soon?

personwomanmancameratv · 17/02/2021 09:22

Please don't feel anxious. No one can guarantee you a risk free pregnancy but what you have described sounds totally normal. Morning sickness usually tails off at the end of the first trimester so that timing sounds normal. I would also say it's more common that not to not be showing at 11 weeks. I didn't start showing until about 14 weeks and then only very slightly.

I've heard that home Dopplers are not recommended because they are so unreliable and results can be easily misread. Even midwives won't use them that early on because it's too early to detect a reliable heartbeat. On the flip side, later in pregnancy they can be more dangerous as you can misinterpret the results (eg you may pick up your own bloodflow). So please don't rely on that too much.

You should be due for your 12 week scan soon which should hopefully put your mind at rest? The best thing you can do until then is try not to worry or stress (I know that's easier said than done but it's the best thing for your baby).

@Beckyxox12 Everyone is different for how long they wait for the scan. 11 weeks is quite late for booking appointment in my area...ours is usually around 8/9 weeks then scan at 12/13 weeks. Your scan will probably be in the next week or 2 I’d imagine!

NatBa · 17/02/2021 14:35

I’m 11 weeks and 4 days, my symptoms have also calmed down a lot recently, yesterday I was a big ball of energy and the day before that I had an appetite! Don’t worry, this is our time where the hormones are starting to calm down and we can actually enjoy our pregnancy
And put that bloody Doppler thing in the bin!

Taytay90 · 17/02/2021 16:19

Hi! I’m 11 weeks and 3 days and my symptoms randomly come and go! One minute I have sore boobs the next day I don’t and the same with all the other symptoms I have! Way easier said than done but try not to worry too much, as every one says as you approach your second trimester the hormones start to settle now.
Also throw that Doppler away it causes way more worry than anything else and that’s no good at all!
You should get your letter soon, I had my booking appointment at 8+5 I had a letter a couple of days later and my dating scan is not this Friday but the Friday after the wait seems forever haha! Like others have said too chase up the letter so you have a date to aim for!

Chelyanne · 17/02/2021 16:38

Normal for symptoms to ease off as the placenta takes over around this stage.
With the doppler... don't stress about not finding a heartbeat, the midwives don't try to before 16 weeks as it's not easy to do. I am not against dopplers, I have one that I got with our 2nd child following 2 mc's.
I worry constantly with current one as it also follows 2 mc's, I am feeling the odd movement already but can't wait for the strong kicks to come so I can relax a bit. I'm 14+1 and got a private scan booked when I'll be 16+4 as I didn't want to wait until 20wk to see how things are progressing.

Hopefully you'll get your scan date soon and seeing baby will ease your worry a little.
Our trust is paperless now so I got my scan letter just hours after my booking app, was 3 weeks between booking and scan day.
