Hi All ,

I am looking for some advice , or if anyone had a similar experience.

I am week late but I have been having some symptoms of early pregnancy for around a 1-2 weeks including nausea , tender breast, and a slight cramping feeling over the past 2 days .

My question is , is it possible to have early symptoms and still have a negative pregnancy test a week after your missed period?
Should I just wait to take the test in a weeks time?

I am trying desperately not to get my hopes up as I so want to be pregnant!

Hey op,

I'm no expert so I could be wrong, but after a week I'd imagine there's enough Hcg that it would show up on a test and pregnancy symptoms are notoriously vague- they could be from a number of things. You could always wait another few days and try again, and if it's still negative and no period, ask the GP (unless you have any medication which could be Causing the delay)

I agree with Pp.
It is quite unlikely that at a week late, you'd still be getting negatives if you were pregnant.

Pregnancy symptoms are all related to hormones and if your hormones are doing whatever they are causing you to be late... It can have the same symptoms

Hi OP, I posted something very similar earlier today! I’m also a week late, which is very unusual for me. I tested negative yesterday but have some early pregnancy symptoms - very similar to the symptoms I experienced with my two DC. One thing I would say, which I didn’t mention in my own post, is that with DC2 I was convinced I was pregnant several days before I finally got a positive result. DH didn’t believe me then and he doesn’t believe me now! What I can’t remember (it was 8 years ago, to be fair) is how late I was before the test showed up as pregnant. Definitely keep trying. Best of luck - I’m rooting for you!🤞

Hi all

Thanks for all the speedy response, greatly appreciated , I have a friend who had symptoms and only got a positive test till 4 weeks after her missed period, guess some people get a slow rise in HGC levels and fingers crossed I am one of them :) . Will just have to hold out and see.

Thank you so much all xx

I'm late 3 days now. Did 3 test and one was invalid and the rest 2 are negative. The brand is clear & simple stripes from b&m so I'm hoping is just the tests.
Keep us updated and I wish you all the best.

@JJHMc
Hey!

I am literally in the same situation as you currently... I am now a week and 1 day over my expected period date and my symptoms for the last week or two have been achy boobs which is on and off (I never get achy boobs even with PMS), I am exhausted and have had really bad heartburn, I have really clear veins all down my thighs which is unusual as well. I took a Clear Blue test yesterday and it was negative so I am going to try and wait another week until Tuesday to test again but my body just feels different so if I’m not pregnant, i have no idea what else it could be!

Same as you, I have also considered that maybe it is due to low hormone levels so maybe we just need to wait it out!

Fingers crossed for you and if you need to speak about anything or if you get any more information, let me know! Smile

Hi, this is my first ever post.
I've seen how supportive you all are so just wanted to share and see other people's experiences.
I was diagnosed with pco last year after having infrequent periods (literally one every 3 months) The doctor told me I could ttc but it may be difficult. He also said after 12 months I would need to get back in touch and be referred to a fertility clinic.
We've been trying to conceive since May last year (I know that's not along time) but ever since I have been having a period every month. They may be on time (28 day cycle) or a few days to a week late.
My last period started on Christmas day. So I am a little late. I've had slight cramps, mood swings, nausea, headaches and I'm exhausted. My cervix is also high and soft and has been for a few days.
I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative.
Has anyone had a similar experience and go on to be pregnant?
When I had my daughter (who is now 8) it only took 3 months to conceive. I know my body is older now but it's sad to grieve over a negative test every month.

If you read all this, thank you ❤
