Whooping cough vaccine reactions

I’m getting my whooping cough vaccine next week (will be 29+2) and just wondering whether, aside from a sore arm, anyone has experienced many symptoms in reaction to this? Reason I am curious is because I’ve got several work deadlines and already bit behind due to feeling a lot of fatigue since coming towards / starting the third trimester .. wondering whether to expect a few days of feeling rubbish post vaccine (eg like the flu and corona ones can do)? Would love to hear others’ experiences to either reassure or prepare! Grin

I've had it 3 times now in different pregnancies and I've never had any reaction from it apart from a sore arm.

howmanyroads · 15/02/2021 22:46

Very slightly sore arm was all for me!

Chelyanne · 15/02/2021 22:52

Had it in 4 pregnancies and only very slight soreness at the injection site.

@BeanCan I was exactly the same as you, busy AF with work and I scheduled mine in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, assuming all would be fine and I could run out, get jabbed, run back.

Turns out, I was right! It's a breeze. Not even a sore arm. The flu jab was worse, and that was nothing either. I did have mine at 21 weeks though, so not sure if you being a bit further along would make a difference.

I had a sore arm for about a week, and about 3 days after I felt like I had the flu for about 24 hours but recovered very quickly x

Thanks so much for your replies! Reassuring to know side effects seem generally very minimal :)

Just a sore arm here too.

Helenknowsbest · 19/02/2021 08:24

No side effects here either, just a tender arm

hereforallthehelp · 19/02/2021 22:20

Had both flu and whooping cough this week - one in each arm and both were absolutely fine and that’s with me feeling a bit run down prior too!

icantthinkofanamehelp · 19/02/2021 22:22

Just a sore arm for 72 hours

RefuseTheLies · 19/02/2021 22:23

No sore arm for me, but a banging headache. I was same with the flu jab.

mummabubs · 19/02/2021 22:26

No side effects for me the first time around, now pregnant with second child and had my whooping cough vaccine 3 days ago- Sore arm for 48 hours and that's it! Flu jabs on the other hand cause me gip every single year (nhs worker so have it yearly).

gemgem1404 · 19/02/2021 23:47

I had an awful headache a fever and a sore arm for about 48 hours then was completely fine x

Gooseygoosey12345 · 20/02/2021 00:04

I didn't even get a sore arm. Wouldn't have known I'd had it done!

FudgeSundae · 20/02/2021 09:02

Yep sorry I had a reaction - very tired and headachey right after. Felt much better by the evening and fine the next day. Apparently it’s one of the ones where the more you have it, the more reaction you have. I’ve had it several times for myself and then this is my second baby in 2 years.

HereWeGoAgainAgainAgain · 20/02/2021 09:18

Had mine this week as pregnant with my second. Very very slight sore arm for 2 days but only really bothered me at night if I lie on it. Today is totally fine. No reactions at all back with DC #1

Reeva1988 · 20/02/2021 09:29

Just a sore arm for 3 days x
