Sorry for the tmi!
I'm 11 weeks pregnant and have had 3 scans all showing baby safe and well.
Yet sometimes I get some bleeding after sex or a difficult bowel movement
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm finding it really stressful!

@indigo27 Hi, I’m 6+6 and have had the same after BM twice now, slight pink on the tissue. X

indigo27 · 13/02/2021 10:20

@LauraDanxx have you had any answers to this?
I have had this on and off since 6 weeks pregnant and it's really getting to me now and just makes me worry!
I get like a small amount of red blood and then nothing it's so odd!!

@indigo27 I haven’t mentioned anything to the midwife, not sure what to do. I’ve only had it twice in the last week and it’s literally just a small bit on the tissue. Have you spoken to anyone? X

@LauraDanxx I called the EPU and I've had scans and they think my cervix is just really sensitive but just feels weird as I didn't have this in my last pregnancy.
It's probably nothing just one of those annoying things!
I wouldn't worry about a little bit of pink- every time I've spoken to EPU they've told me not to worry unless I'm soaking a pad in an hour and passing clots.
It's just frustrating more than anything- I've tried drinking lots more water as when I did this i wasn't as constipated and didn't get the bleeding. Then the last couple days I've not been drinking as much and it happened again so maybe it is caused by straining I don't know just seems so odd- never would have thought a cervix could be that sensitive!

@indigo27 when you’ve called the EPU have they sent you for a scan straight away? I have read that straining could be the cause and that the cervix could just be sensitive. I have endometriosis which the midwife didn’t seem concerned about. I’m just worrying about anything, this is my first baby. X

@LauraDanxx the EPU weren't worried so after the first bleeding we went to a&e and I was referred for a scan.
The other two scans we paid for privately as I was just so worried as it was bright red blood!
They weren't concerned as it wasn't a lot of blood but at the private scan they checked me properly and they couldn't locate any blood coming from where the baby is.
When I had a pelvic exam at a&e there was no blood until they examined me and the consultant said that I bled when they touched my cervix indicating a sensitive cervix.
After my midwife appointment last week I am having an internal scan next week to check my cervix out properly - no one seems that worried though I think it's just me 😂

@indigo27 It’s reassuring they aren’t worried but doesn’t help your worry. I have a private scan booked for 2 weeks today, hoping that will put my mind at rest. Have you been having any pains? X

It's usually cervix related alright but dear God don't strain for bowel movements, surefire way to give yourself haemorrhoids.

MsHedgehog · 13/02/2021 12:40

I had bleeding after sex several times around the 11-14 week mark, or something like that. It wasn’t bright red, more like brown discharge and sometimes streaks of red. The first time I panicked and called the hospital and all they could say is keep an eye on it. After I realised it’s sex related i did stop freaking out as much, but was still worried each time.

In relation to bowel movements, can’t say I’ve experienced that.

Ive had this from 8 weeks on and off! Now 39 weeks and all good , long as your midwife is aware its happening its normally fine especially if you have a known cause for it! Its hard not to worry though at times!

indigo27 · 13/02/2021 16:11

@nursey1993 thanks so much, so nice to hear your 39 weeks and going well!!
Did you ever find a reason for the bleeding?

OP posts:
nursey1993 · 13/02/2021 16:17

No @indigo27 the first time it happened my GP rang EPU to get me scanned cause wad only 8 weeks and hadnt been scanned, rule out ectopic etc etc, but that time it was fresh blood running from me. Scan was all fine, they just said irritated cervix. Then later in pregnancy when it started happening again midwife just said the same & cause of the increased bloodflow down there. She said as long as there was a reason for it ie sex/BM and i can pinpoint it to that then nothing to worry about! I only ever had pink on the tissue since never the fresh red so i didnt panic as much especially if MW wasnt concerned! Obvoiously if severe pain as well as blood itd different story! If its not one thing we worry about, its another until the end lol.
