Baby estimated 4lbs 12 at 34 weeks - anyone similar who can let me know what baby weighed at birth?

Hi ladies,

Just looking for some info/experience really. Based on fundal height I measured 29cm at 28 weeks, 35cm at 31 weeks and then 31cm at 34 weeks so was sent for a growth scan due to the drop off. I always thought that 31week measurement was wrong as my bumps fairly small and after the growth scan everyone agrees. Little miss is actually around the 30th centile based on weight at an estimated 4lbs 12 at the moment. Her belly was on the 6th centile and legs on the 20th so they think she's long and skinny.

Just wondering if anyone else had a growth scan with similar figures around 34 weeks and what their babies ended up weighing at birth?

Also interested as have my 34 week growth scan next week. I was 3lb 3oz at 30 weeks and hoping he's got much bigger! Having him at 38 weeks and hoping he'll be big enough!

My baby was estimated at 6lbs at 34 weeks and arrived at 40+3 at 10lbs. A 4lb increase in the last 6 weeks.

It's estimated that babies usually put in a lb every two weeks at that stage.

My DD was estimated at 5lb 12 the day before she was born. She was actually 7lb 3oz. So they aren't always able to be very accurate.

*7lb 5oz

I’m sure they say approximately half a pound a week so that would be around 7-8lb. Growth scans are notoriously unreliable through for actual weight

Hi if you follow your growth chart and see the line they're going on, it should give you a rough estimate. As usually they will follow that line.

This baby was 4lb 9 at my 32 week scan.
My first baby also measured the same at his 32 week scan and was 9lb at birth

That weight isn't to bad op but also remember that growth scans are a guess at best.
My first was estimated to be 2lbs 5oz at 33 weeks and was born weighing 2lbs 14oz a day later and my second was estimated to be 5lbs 8oz at 36 weeks but was 5lbs 3oz when he was born.
So as you can see there is a huge margin for error.

This exactly. My second was measured at a 40 week growth scan and estimated 6lb 8 and was born 6 days later at nearly 10lb!

My son was born at 35 + 4 weighing 4lb 4

He is now four years old with size one feet and 120 cm fall!

CatRatSplat · 10/02/2021 13:18

I had a 5lb 2 baby at 37 (corrected to 36) weeks, not sure if her measurements beforehand as I only found out 7 weeks earlier! She is fine now just turned 5 she is on the 9th percentile at a tiny 103cm, but the females are all quiet small on my side 😂

lljkk · 10/02/2021 13:23

I dunno about weights. DS was supposed to be 99th percentile at 34 week scan; he was born (not induced) 5 weeks later at 6 lbs 8 oz. Hardly a giant.

twinkletoedelephant · 10/02/2021 13:26

I was told my twins were both going to be huge... they were 7 and 5lb ...the 5lb one was very long but very skinny....Still is now

wheresmycrown · 10/02/2021 13:27

I can't remember the measurements etc that far back but what I can remember if that they worried the fuck out of me telling me to go for growth scans because too big then too small. Every 2 weeks at the hospital. My DD was born at 40+4 and was 6lb 14oz.

I had my DS a year later and didn't allow them to do that to me again. If there is an actual concern then fine. Some murmurings about needing growth scan but I said no. Not every 2 weeks ago. They respected my decision when I said no. He was born 7lb 8oz no issues.
