Should I be able to feel baby from outside stomach - 11 weeks?

Currently 11 weeks pregnant, have my first scan next week. I have been unwell with a recurrent stomach condition (not pregnancy related) throughout.
The last few days I can very clearly feel a hard lump in my lower stomach, about 2/3 inches below my belly button. Could that be the baby? Is it normal that you can easily feel it from pressing on the outside of the stomach at this stage?

Sorry if this is a really silly question but I am not sure if this is normal - or could be related to my stomach issues returning and if I should make an appointment with doctor.

Hi, no, I wouldn't say that is baby at this stage.
If you've had stomach issues, I'd get it checked out just incase

savanahnana · 09/02/2021 11:44

I would suggest having it checked out just for reassurance. But baby is teeny tiny still at 11 weeks, although saying that I do vaguely remember having a hard lump area quite low down when I was early pregnant.

No, that won’t be the baby, at that age the baby is behind your bladder and other bowel. It’s more likely that is some of your other organs being pushed up by the womb. If it’s a small hard lump rather than a broad area I’d get it checked. By that stage most women with their first baby can’t see or feel any bump.

As others said, get this checked out. It’s not baby, who is the size of a small fig, and behind other organs,

Are you very thin? Do you, ehrm, need to poo, or have you been over eating ?

I would imagine it could be the top of your womb op I remember reading about this when I was pregnant my daughter

Kendodd · 09/02/2021 13:34

I don't think I felt mine until about 20 weeks.

Won't be the baby but could be the top of your womb - that feels like a hard ridge/rubber ball that gradually rises above your pelvis and should start to be felt at about 11 weeks.

MsHedgehog · 09/02/2021 16:06

Highly likely it's the baby, but sounds like it may be your growing womb!

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/02/2021 16:35

No

Thanks all for your replies. I called my midwife and she said it’s normal and nothing to worry about unless I start to bleed or it feels painful.
She said it wouldn’t be the baby itself (thank god as it really freaked me out thinking that I could feel it already!) but would be my uterus as it moves and grows.

11 weeks is far too early! Any hard lumps are unlikely to be the baby either. I didn’t feel baby move til 22 weeks, but didn’t feel on the outside til about 26
