Adenomyosis during pregnancy

Hi all, Just found out I am 5+wks pregnant after 7yrs trying, multiple miscarriages and our only daughter who is now 15! (I am 34) - I have Adeno, Endo, PCOS and bowel disease. I am worried about the complications that could arise. I have had bad cramping and pulling pains low down for the past week, much like my usual bad period pain and as I am high risk I went for an early scan yesterday which showed Sac in the right place but will have another scan in 2wks when we should have a heartbeat. Preg test showing positive and the correct amount of weeks, sore breasts, tired and emotional. All looking more positive than our recent MC in 2017 so thats nice but I just can't feel settled or happy:( Any success stories or similar experiences please. Lotsa love Dani x

I have endometriosis and adenomyosis - I was told I was unlikely to conceive naturally and we started trying so that we could try for a year and then be referred for IVF. Except I got pregnant the first month and it was twins.

The endometriosis and adenomyosis caused me no problems during pregnancy - in fact it’s the first time I’ve had minimal endo pain since my periods started. In the second trimester I felt fantastic, more energy etc.

Unfortunately I did have complications and my twins both have disabilities but nothing to do with the endo / adeno.

I think having an emergency caesarean wasn’t ideal in terms of these conditions and my pain has been worse since I had them. But as far as the pregnancy itself, aside from some brief shocks of uterine pain in the first trimester, it didn’t impact anything - and I had two babies, two sacs and two placentas so I’m quite amazed by that!

Hello @Mummyduck27

Firstly, huge congratulations!

I’m 7+4 with Adeno, pcos and had a lap in October where they removed some adhesions, though no active endo found.

They also did ovarian drilling/ diathermy and we were on the waiting list for letrozole when I found out we are expecting

I am still having cramping pains, nothing like the Adeno pains I normally get but it is a worry sometimes. I’ve booked a private scan for next week.

From what I’ve read (and from what @SinkGirl is saying!) we can probably expect some sharp pains in first trimester

I have absolutely everything crossed for you that you have a happy healthy pregnancy. I’m going to be asking my midwife on Tuesday when I see her if there’s anything to look out for and will feed back if there is xx

Well this was so reassuring to read and i’m so glad to hear you got your miracle twins despite the odds! I had to have an emergency c-section with my daughter too which has probably added or even caused the condition but as long as she arrived healthy, that’s all that mattered!
Thanks for your responseStar xx

@Fro93 Thank you so much! Huge congratulations to you also...Everything crossed for us!!Star It’s reassuring to hear i’m not alone and the cramping is normal, I mean even the nurse said that but with our last sad experience I just keep comparing the negatives. Have you had any scans yet or heard the heartbeat or will your private scan be your first? Would love for you to update me on your journeySmile Are you having any pregnancy symptoms at the moment. I’m super emotional, tired and sore boobs so far!Blush xx

@Fro93 That’s great news for you!🎉👶🏼
I am over 17wks now and having a little Boy, so far so good but I must say I have had consistent very painful cramping all the way through, day and night. Not such a glamorous part of pregnancy with Endo/Adeno but happy that all is looking well and good, pray it stays that way for us...and for you too!! All the best and keep in touchSmileStar

@Mummyduck27 congrats on team blue!!

We’re not finding out I don’t think- 20w scan next week and so tempted but hoping can hold it in haha.

I’m also getting Adeno type pains now as things progress so will mention to MW but sounds normal with our conditions

Are you consultant led or having any extra appointments? I don’t think they really do much extra with Adeno do they x

ElmtreeMama · 08/05/2021 04:56

I have endo and pcos and am 12 weeks, also had persistent, strong cramping so it's reassuring to read all is well for you so far :)
