Haven’t gained any weight from week 8 to 16?

Hi, I haven’t gained any weight at all from my booking appointment where she had me at 69kg (BMI 26.6) but I’ve weighed myself at 16 weeks out of curiosity and am surprised and a little concerned at no weight gain? I’ve gained a prominent bump since week 8 and admit my boobs grew a lot before week 8 so will have been accounted for in the first weighing. Should I be concerned or is this ok?

I’ve been eating meals and snacks, haven’t been stuck with any sickness and tbh haven’t done as much exercise as I should have

I've been like this in all my pregnancies. Gain a chunk then hold steady until around 24wk and start gaining again.
I gained a fair bit in the 1st couple of month this time but now just hovering at the same weight, only 11+4wk atm.

Baby and placenta are still really quite small/light!

It's fine. You shouldn't really put weight on at this stage. A 16 wk foetus and associated fluid / placenta etc would weigh very little - well under 1lb. Even accounting for a bit of extra blood volume, most people wouldn't put on much weight at this stage.

I didn’t gain any weight until after 20 weeks despite having a bump quite early on and my boobs also getting bigger. I couldn’t understand it! Yet scan showed baby was growing well and was healthy 🙂

I was going to bring it up with my midwife but after I saw that everything was normal at the scan I stopped worrying and figured that the midwife wouldn’t be able to do anything about my weight anyway! BMI was 19.2 pre pregnancy (I’m quite tall!)

I'm 32 weeks and precisely 2lb heavier than my pre pregnancy weight. Not everyone packs on the pounds whilst pregnant!

I lost a couple of kilos during first trimester from about week 7/8 (not much vomiting, but lost appetite and lots of food aversion) and now at 17 weeks I'm still about half a kilo less than what I started off as. However I definitely feel bigger, no prominent bump yet, but somethings definitely burgeoning! Mentioned the weight thing to my midwife and she wasn't concerned at all. I don't think weight gain during pregnancy is a steady constant thing, probably more like spurts.

Hi, don't worry. As long as they're happy with the size of baby, that's all that matters.
I'm currently 32 weeks and I've gained 1lb and that's it. It's also very common if you've had sickness

I still weigh what I did before I was pregnant and I'm 16 weeks. I have a tiny tiny bump noticeable only to me but it doesn't seem to have grown from weeks 10-16. Scan was normal and midwife not worried at all at my 16 week appointment where I asked about this.

Pumpkinpops · 04/02/2021 16:39

Yes I was fhe same in both my pregnancies. I piled on weight the last 10 weeks though!

Illy605 · 04/02/2021 17:01

I lost about 8 pounds from 6 weeks to 17 weeks. It’s only been in the last couple weeks I’ve started putting weight on as I no longer feel nauseous and don’t have as bad food aversions. I’m now just at my pre pregnancy weight at 21 weeks.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, as long as you know you’re eating enough.
