My husband tested positive for Ureplasma Mycoplasma than find out I also have Ureaplasma. I already miscarried this summer because of Ureaplasma. We did not try to get pregnant this month, I had no symptoms of pregnancy and I used the Chlaritormycin, Minocyline and Ciproflaxin to get rid of the infection so that we can try this comming cycle. But today I find out I am pregnant. I feel very guilty. Today is 11 DPO, I used yesterday and today i used these 3 antibiotics, at 9 and 10 DPO... Now I am very worried and my world is collapsed. I dont know if there is any chance to bring a health baby after what I did.

I was on the same treatment for the same reasons (although they could never confirmed ureaplasma was the cause of miscarriage just an assumption) and conceived the month after treatment.
That being said we didn't stop trying even throughout treatment.
Are you still on antibiotics?
I am sure it will be ok.

SunnySideUp2020 · 03/02/2021 09:47

Also it's important that you carry on the treatment until the end.
Even with that it's not 100% sure it will clear it but at least you have a better chance...
You need to speak to whoever prescribed you the antibiotics.
Don't beat yourself up

littleangle46 · 04/02/2021 00:43

doctor suggested I stop taking them... not all antibiotics are unsafe during pregnancy but the ones I used is a standard STD treatment and they are nasty organisms with resistant to other safe antibiotics. I am very sad. I dont know what to do there is very high risk for birth defects . I dont know what to do, I just cant sleep or eat or think, I only acusse my self.

The risk of birth defect is small i would think.
Give yourself a chance.
Listen to the doc and stop the antibiotics.
At 20w you will have an anomaly scan or perhaps you could be monitored more closely.
You are very early... i am sure it will be fine

@littleangle46 I know it's an old thread but how are you getting on?

I was diagnosed with Ureaplasma and started antibiotics yesterday. My gynaecologist prescribed 3months course of antibiotics! I had MC in march and desperate to get BFP again. However, will get partner tested and treated as well as myself and then start TTC again. I'm desperate to be pregnant after MC.

@SunnySideUp2020 how long was your treatment for? How long was it for your partner.

I find there's not enough information on this and NHS is not being helpful at all

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/06/2021 12:58

@MiamiBeach104

My husband's and my antibiotics were for 10 days only. 3 months sound a bit much!

There is definitely not enough information...
Hope you get your BFP soon!

How are you getting on @littleangle46 ?

littleangle46 · 20/06/2021 21:38

@SunnySideUp2020 @MiamiBeach104
Hi I lost the baby at 8 weeks, than had a medical managemt of miscarriage, still there are retained tissues in my uterus... I had very hard days.
We used 21 days of doxycyline and tested negative for ureaplasma. Please dont to get bfp before you test negative.
wish you all the best

@littleangle46 so sorry for your loss. The pain is unbearable. Give yourself time to deal with the loss. It will get better. Not today and not tomorrow but soon.

Big hugs to you. I wish i could help you to take some pain away xx

SunnySideUp2020 · 21/06/2021 08:33

@littleangle46
Oh no, so sorry to hear this 😔
As @MiamiBeach104 it takes time but it will get better...
Be kind to yourself x

Thank you very much @SunnySideUp2020 , @MiamiBeach104 I try my best. Ureaplasma is intracellular it is very hard to kill but long term therapies work. There is a reddit ureaplasma group that I read there, people get cured with long term therapies. Also if you are in United States there is a new antibiotic called Lefamulin its very effective.

@littleangle46 hope you are slowly getting better. Did you manage to get rid of Ureaplasma at all yet?

@SunnySideUp2020 did your or your partners had any symptoms? I'm continuing my antibiotics and my partner is still due to get tested. He doesn't have symptoms. I had irregular bleeding after MC but this might have been down to polyps (getting removed in July). If I didn't go privately to get checked for irregular bleeding there's no way the Ureaplasma would have been discovered. We tried to get him tested on NHS by saying that I have it but it didn't go anywhere (maybe just local gp was rubbish)

SunnySideUp2020 · 27/06/2021 12:21

@MiamiBeach104

Neither him nor I had symptoms. It got picked up when we did the full check up at a fertility clinic.

I never had bleeding or anything. Also had some small polyps removed btw. I conceived the month after the procedure!

VioletRose91 · 16/08/2021 11:52

@MiamiBeach104 can you tell me where you went to get treatment? I’ve found out I have it after repeated uti symptoms but nhs is unwilling to treat me

MiamiBeach104 · 19/08/2021 09:13

@VioletRose91 - so I have private insurance and did it this way. I had consultation with gynaecologist first (as a result of that I had polyp removed and wanted to double check if everything is ok after mc), she advised me to do ureaplasma test and then prescribed 3 months worth of doxycycline. My partner had to get tested too. We tried getting him through NHS but it seems NHS is not treating for it. You should be able just to get the private gynaecologist to get you to do urine sample and then give prescription. I'm in London so the test only (no consultation) was quoted £150 and then another £20 or so for medication (it might be worth shopping around to get something cheaper). And then throughout the course of antibiotics sex with condoms only not to get re-infected from each other.

I am nearly done with my tablets and will go get re-tested soon. I personally don't see it having any affect on me but my partner says it smells more pleasant so hopefully that's a good sign.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

MiamiBeach104 · 19/08/2021 10:58

@SunnySideUp2020 - I had a small polyp removed last month. Looking forward to start trying again in time for September ovulation. Did you end up having successful pregnancy after the removal?

SunnySideUp2020 · 19/08/2021 14:37

@MiamiBeach104

Yes my little girl is 4 months 😊
Hope the polyp removal will help you too!

MiamiBeach104 · 20/08/2021 08:38

@SunnySideUp2020 - oh wow! huge congrats Flowers
how did you cope with anxiety when pregnant? I even can't start trying for a baby until finish the tablets but the idea that mc could happen again is terrifying.

SunnySideUp2020 · 20/08/2021 10:03

@MiamiBeach104

It was hard i am not gonna lie.
I needed constant reassurance from my partner, private scans and daily pep talks.
The pregnancy felt even longer because of that. Mumsnet was very helpful in some ways though.
After 16weeks scan i started to relax a bit more and after 20w even more. Then anxiety kicked in again in the last few weeks.

MiamiBeach104 · 20/08/2021 17:45

@SunnySideUp2020 - well you made it at the end which is the most important thing. thanks, that's give me a good picture of what to expect and ways to manage it.. and who knows! maybe I'll be very chilled and trust mother nature instead Grin

MiamiBeach104 · 03/09/2021 15:37

@VioletRose91 - so I retested my urine and got all clear from ureaplasma. 3 months of antibiotics and protected sex. just 2 more pills to go.

should be ovulating around 12-13 Sep so thankfully will be able to start trying again.

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/09/2021 07:00

@MiamiBeach104 great news! good luck!
