23 weeks and haven’t prepared anything

I really hope I’m not alone in this. I’m 23 weeks and I’ve done nothing at all to prepare for this baby. It’s my second pregnancy and frankly I just can’t be arsed. By this stage with my first I think I’d bought most stuff, painted the nursery, packed hospital bags etc. But I haven’t done one single thing to prepare this time round. I know I should get on it as it’ll only get harder the bigger I get but I have zero motivation! Anyone else feel this way?

You still have loads of time at 23 weeks! I'm nearly 38 weeks and only just finished packing my hospital bag this week! We painted the baby's room when I was maybe 30ish weeks and have only really bought stuff after that point as well. Everyone is different of course but I think you can give yourself a break, you've got loads of time to get sorted 😊

BlueberryPancake21 · 02/02/2021 18:01

Not for the same reasons but I didn't get anything at all until 28 weeks and it's my first so I had literally nothing. I don't think it's a problem - you've still got ages?

LayingLow · 02/02/2021 22:01

I'm 24 weeks with baby #4 and iv done and brought nothing lol you are not alone

Moo678 · 02/02/2021 22:16

Same! 22 wks with baby number 4 and have done absolutely nothing. Oh that’s not true - I bought a 2nd hand baby Bjorn sling but I don’t know where it is now 🤔

Grognonne · 02/02/2021 22:40

I’m 26 weeks with my first. I wasn’t planning by on getting anything until I was at least over 32 weeks. I don’t know what the benefit would be of getting it too early?

ShalomToYouJackie · 02/02/2021 23:03

@Grognonne splitting the cost of things over a longer period of time rather than buying every at once at the end of the pregnancy.

I've been picking up bits here and there when I see them on sale or second hand since about 16 weeks and it's much more manageable than buying everything in one go, for me anyway!

I have been feeling the exact same way. I had everything ready so early with first but like you this time round i just cant be bothered lol. Im 26 weeks now and have gathered quite a bit clothes wise in the last week or so. Nothing for myself for hospital, no crib/cot, no pram, no bouncer, no bottles, no steriliser. Had a years supply of wipes and nappies last time too, this time non lol! I figure i'll just get to it whenever, suppose I have too 😂

I’m 39w with my second and didn’t do anything until I was about 34w. I just didn’t see the rush. I didn’t have much to do apart from get pram, baby seat clothes etc out the loft. I had a very few bits to buy which came last week.
When pregnant with DS I didn’t buy anything till after my 20w scan but we had everything we needed by around 29w.

Grognonne · 03/02/2021 14:16

@ShalomToYouJackie - I see! I have just been putting some money aside for baby things. I’m not usually superstitious, but I wasn’t going to buy anything anyway until after 24 weeks once the pregnancy became viable, but I still haven’t got round to doing anything yet - helps the shops aren’t open!!

gretagreengrapes · 03/02/2021 14:30

I'm almost 30 weeks with my first baby and apart from pram, carseat and crib baby currently has nothing else! We are going to start ordering stuff from this week. I didn't feel any need to buy it's clothes before now to be honest.

The baby's room will not be painted until after it's born as I want other rooms we will actually be spending time in done first.

SnooperTrooper12345 · 04/02/2021 11:32

I'm 32 weeks and haven't done anything yet.
I don't tend to do/buy things before 30 weeks anyway and certainly wouldn't before 24 weeks as if baby was born, there isn't a high chance of survival.
Obviously it's a low chance but still.
My partner lost 2 babies around 24 weeks so he isn't comfortable buying things before then.
But it's each to their own
