I have PMDD. I’m 10 weeks into an IVF pregnancy and taking 800mg cyclogest pd until week 14. I’m getting PMDD symptoms and finding it really hard. I have 2 toddlers by myself every weekend (partner works abroad and struggling to get back to UK) and the exhaustion and mood swings are hugely problematic.

Has anyone else with PMDD had this in early pregnancy? What did you do? Have always managed the PMDD with diet and exercise but thinking of asking for sertraline when I see consultant next week. Would appreciate any advice/views.

Hi, I have PMDD and I felt awful until approx 11 weeks pregnant. Horrendous upset stomach all the time, sickness and so low - just like PMDD. I almost booked an abortion. I think early pregnancy is more progesterone dominant anyway (that's how I explained my symptoms to myself anyway) so I'd imagine it's especially rough on cyclogest. I hope you're ok Flowers I'm 18 weeks now and I feel a lot better now my oestrogen levels are climbing.

Oh, I should add, I take citalopram for PMDD and I reduced but didn't stop it when I got pregnant, so I'm still on 20mg per day.

Thanks, Loretta, Bizarrely got talking to a colleague of mine today (works from the US so don't get to speak to her that often) and she went on Zoloft (sertraline) early in pregnancy and has never looked back. That made me feel a bit more confident about approaching it with the doctor.

I just can't take it anymore; I want to be a real person again. I find myself hoping there's nothing there so I can just stop the progesterone and that's just horrible. I too have thought about booking an abortion. I really struggle to function.

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better and hope it continues to improve. Thank you for responding. x
