Gluten whilst pregnant (celiacs help!)

Hi guys,

I am so angry. Wagamamas do not cater for allergies while in lockdown and I had some ramen before I noticed I had a non gluten version.

I had a Vega(?) test before and she said my levels indicated celiac and since my doctors are useless I just cut gluten in March 2019 and have noticed massive improvements after cutting it out for a while (normal bowels, better energy levels, skin isn’t grey anymore).

I am 7 weeks pregnant today and I’m worried I’ve messed up by not noticing about my food sooner. Will it just be my bowels effected? Or as a one off do you think I’ll be ok? I’ve been TTC since July 2019 so after this long I’m in such a panic.

Sorry for the ramble (please reassure me 😭😭)

Sometimes you get a pass i can say around 10% of the time when I'm accidentally glutened im ok might feel a bit tired but that's it the rest of the time im legging it to the loo also I got accidentally glutened twice with my last pregnancy the baby was fine just dont dehydrate

Tsubasa1 · 29/01/2021 20:23

İ think you will be fine and so will the baby. İt wouldn't have any long term effefts on your small intestine if it's a one off!

BrutusMcDogface · 29/01/2021 20:24

The baby will be fine, please don’t worry.

As a one off you’ll be fine. As an aside, I don’t think Wagamama caters for food intolerances on any delivery (even in normal times) as they’re too worried about getting it wrong. Good luck with your pregnancy!

Thank you everyone! I was really wound up and just wanted reassurance as I was beating myself up 😔 I’ve been feeling awful this week and it was the first proper meal I was up for.

@HDready apparently they have a gluten free menu now but before they have been pretty clueless. I was told the chicken ramen (boring I know) was gf as it had rice noodles which apparently isn’t the case now. You have to dig quite deep into their site to find anything out about ingredients for if things have changed like that. I thought restaurants might want the business atm but I’ll bother with a place that does care next time
