Will my newborn be in sleepsuits at end of May time?.. I dont want to buy loads then it's too warm for her to wear them. The British weather is unpredictable haha all my other babies been winter babies so I'm unsure for clothing for a newborn in may/June 'x

My June born baby deffo got good use out of all of hers!

Following as I've only had winter babes till now and due in July!
I do know they get really cold so sleep suits and sleeveless body suits worn separately is what I think I'm going to do.

Cotton rompers look good as well

Our 3rd was a May baby and lived in sleepsuits, if it was a bit warm she'd be fine in a bodysuit. You do have to be careful that they don't get too cool either so have both and thin blankets ready to layer up as needed.

Yes you will defo need sleepsuits for May. Unless we are in some sort of heatwave i plan on a short sleeved vest and then sleepsuit!

I had an August born in a heat wave. She wore a vest and sleepsuits for the first 2 days then we sometimes left the sleepsuit off, during the day we had her in a vest and leggings as it was easy to take the leggings on and off depending on temperature.
Even during the heat wave the average temperature was cooler than the 37 deg bath she had spent 9 months cocooned in!
The high temperatures lasted a couple of weeks, she was in the sleepsuits until 8 weeks.

Im due in early June
my first baby was born in February so this is a bit different

I have bought short sleeve vests. sleepsuits, a few light cardigans
easy to take layers off if to hot and put on if to cold.
I would say yes they will need sleepsuits

Yes. Mine was May baby, he was freezing the first 6 weeks of so and needed vest, sleepsuit, cardigan and extra booties on most the time. On hot days as he grew he would wear just a vest when hot, but still usually started and finished the day in sleepsuit

I'm commenting as I am expecting my first baby end of May and generally would like to know what people's thoughts on this are.

shouldistop · 29/01/2021 21:37

Yes you'll definitely need them unless it's exceptionally hot for a long time
Ds1 was a summer baby and he still slept in a vest & sleepsuit with a light weight sleeping bag.
Even if it was a warm summer you'd probably just do away with the vest. Newborns would get cold very fast if their skin isn't all covered up unless your house is over 25 degrees all the time.

Best rule of thumb is one more layer than you so if your wearing PJs then they need pjs and a vest. If you put on a jumper or cardigan during the day then add one for them too.
