Glass of wine in early labour?!

Hi there not an urgent one by any means...but I read in a book recently that a glass of wine once in early labour could be very beneficial and help relax you...and no risk of any issues to baby at this late stage. I raised this with my midwife yesterday at 38 wk appointment and although she couldn't officially encourage it, she definitely gave my the impression it would be absolutely fine to have a glass of wine!

I'm not sure how i feel about it let alone if I'd even want a glass.of wine...I've not drunk any alcohol throughout my pregnancy as haven't really fancied it...

But maybe it would be a great way of celebrating labour and taking the edge off..anyone else had any experiences or thoughts on a cheeky sauvingnon blanc in early labour?!

Thanks!

our NCT instructor recommended packing a bottle of champagne in the hospital bag Grin if you fee up to it, I say go for it!
