Hi all, I’m due my baby in the next week or so (induction) and I’m lay here awake terrified that I’m going to catch Covid whilst being in hospital. I’m classed as obese and haven’t left the house in the last four weeks through sheer fear of picking something up. Anybody else have this fear?

FTM, due in March.

I haven't worried about that yet, but I expect it's normal as the date approaches.

Have you been told what measures are being taken on the labour ward? Are staff checking their own temp or having rapid tests? What is the cleaning regime? How many people when you are on a ward with others?

It's not a part of the hospital with ill people, so they should have a good bubble. Finding out more might put you at ease.

Weirdly, the maternity hospital is where I feel safest!

It's hard when we worry but try and combat it with logic. The chances of your catching it when they are testing parents before births, staff have regular tests, people have more common sense and care because it's mothers and babies, limited visits.

Try and focus on holding your little one, newborn cuddles etc

Good luck x

I am scared too so totally understand how you are feeling. I am getting a planned section so know I will need to be in for at least one night. I have an appointment next week though and plan to do as @Thack suggests and ask lots of questions then which will hopefully reassure me.

Hi op. I had my baby in June so height of first wave. It was really safe in hospital. They swab you when you are admitted and take your temps etc regularly, desperate ward for covid positive mums. It's really safe! Try not to worry about it!

I had my baby in November (i was induced). Once i was admitted to my own room i was not allowed to leave the room and all staff wore ppe when entering. My DH was with me the whole time and he is vulnerable. We both felt very safe the time we were there. Also no one was allowed on the ward unless they a good reason
