I'm still showing positive three weeks after d&c

Hey guys! I had a d&c due to miscarriage on 12/30/20. I was only around 5-6 weeks. Today marks three weeks since d&c and I am still showing positive on pregnant test. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal? My husband and I are wanting to try again soon but know we shouldn't until my levels are back to normal. Thanks in advance!

I tested positive 5 weeks after m/c. I tested because I had been bleeding the whole 5 weeks & didn’t know what was happening/hoping there was a miracle. The clinic (ivf) actually rescanned me to check I wasn’t still pregnant.
Sorry for you loss Flowers

So sorry for your loss. This happened to me last summer after a d& c. I still had morning sickness for a month afterwards. It’s horrible.
On the plus side I got pregnant again 6 weeks after the d&c. So there is hope around the corner... things will get better.
Give yourself time. Flowers

I tested positive after 3 weeks and a scan showed I had retained products. Had to have another surgery.

@LittleTiger007 I am sorry that you went through the same thing. It has been a terrible experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It makes me hopeful that you were able to get pregnant so fast after the surgery! Congrats! My dr said to wait at least 4 cycles but after hearing so many success stories, I think we will try again after my levels go down. I went last Friday and my levels had dropped from 2200 (that's what they were the day I had the surgery) to 440 after 2 weeks. Now it's three weeks and I'm still showing positive. We just want to get past this but it seems to be taking a bit. Thanks for sharing your experience!

It took about 4 wks for my tests to go negative. Although I was 13 wks when I had my surgery. I’ve never heard the advice to wait four cycles. I’ve had several miscarriages and was always told I could try again as soon as I was ready.

I had a follow up call with a midwife at 3 wks following my surgery but when I said my test was still positive she just said to test again in a week.

It's probably just taking time but I would maybe contact your GP or EPU. It seems a bit unusual to still be showing positive that long after a PG at that gestation - although obviously everyone is different. My MC at 9wks took about 2.5 weeks to go back to negative but when I had an earlier MC it only took a week (in fairness that one happened naturally so levels were probably dropping already). With both the EPU told me I would need a scan if I didn't get a negative test after 2 weeks as there could be retained products. If there are and they don't pass naturally you'll need treatment.

It took me almost 5 weeks to get a negative test after MC and then AF arrived a few days later.

Fell pregnant again on the next cycle. Wishing you lots of luck when you start trying again.
