Painful lumps on vulva under the skin

This is TMI, but I'm very worried. Currently close to 10 weeks pregnant and for the last week or so have noticed I have painful hard lumps under the skin on my vulva. I think the first 3 appeared about 4-5 days after I shaved. Small hard closed lumps under the skin on labia majora. Painful to the touch. I waited a few days and saw a doc and she said they look like infected glands, or could possibly be folliculitis due to shaving. Took swabs, gave me an antibiotic cream to use internally and externally for 7 days (Dalacin) and did not seem concerned. A day after seeing a doc, another lump appeared above clitoris. This one is bigger and a little more painful. Nothing much to see other than the swelling/the lump itself. Skin is not broken, no open sores or anything. Requested a call back from the doc, but has anyone else had this? I think I've had a similar odd lump here and there in the past, usually after shaving and they've gone away themselves after a few days. But never had 5 of them, and the biggest and most painful one appearing a week and a half after shaving... Is this a pregnancy thing (hormones, sensitivity)?

I had something similar in early PG and was told same as you. I think the skin can be more sensitive and there's increased blood flow. I stopped shaving and they've gone away. Obviously if you're worried make another appointment with your GP. Mine was 100% confident that whatever it was wasn't anything to be worried about and posed no risk to baby.

I got just the one at about 11weeks. I've had a couple in the past (years ago) due to shaving so I didn't freak out and it did go away a few days later. We must just be more prone to them during pregnancy I think. Scared to shave again now!

I think ingrown hairs from shaving are more common in pregnancy in general. In my last pregnancy I had a horrible painful lump on my bikini line and was in for monitoring and asked the doctor to take a look at it because it was so painful she she laughed at me as explained that ingrown hairs are very common when pregnant and to stop shaving the area.

Also had something like that in first and then second trimester. It was just one lump but painful and went to gynaecologist both times.
I was advised to use an antibac solution clean once a day and IF it doesn't go away to use antibiotics.
They went away in a 7-10 days both times.
I think you should avoid shaving for a while just to not irritate your skin.
Otherwise you can ask a doctor to do a swab to check f you have an infection in the background that triggers this when the skin is broken. (Not a doctor though 😁 but i would ask personally!)

Thank you, @SunnySideUp2020! Seems these lumps are quite common. Has swabs done and awaiting result. Using the Dalacin cream the eoc gave in the meantime (an antibiotic cream)

Ah good on the swabs. Hopefully it's nothing and just your skin being sensitive with all the blood flowing in the region.

I'm 13+6 and this week I had a lump come up on my vulva.... Was a tad worried as it was getting bigger and bigger and was becoming quite sore. Really gross but I got a mirror and lightly squeezed it and it burst 😂 turns out it was an ingrown hair lol. All fine now, gone down and now it's fine 😊

Thank you @Baker0104! I haven't noticed any ingrown hairs, but I think I cut myself so very slightly when I shaved and some bacteria must have gotten in. I've used the 2% Dalacin cream internally and externally for 5 days now, 2 more days to go. Two lumps on one side are almost gone, 3 bigger ones on the other side are still there, but smaller and hardly painful now, so it seems they're going away. Don't know if this would have happened anyway, or the cream helped. Looked up that Dalacin is not really recommended in the first trimester, but it's topical and the gynecologist said it's safe, so I must stop worrying and trust her. Vaginal skin is still a little sore and feeling some discomfort, but I guess I have to wait until the swabs come back. The doc said it did not look bad inside, so perhaps some over-sensitivity who knows. I'm also on long term antibiotics for chronic UTI, pretty hefty dose though this does not feel or look like thrush.
