Hi- you’ll probably realised I’ve posted quite a bit. It’s SO hard as no one knows about our pregnancy and really could do with any similar situations good or bad.

Long story short, weekend I started to have pink spotting that went brown, Monday I had around a teaspoon of what appeared to be fresh blood in underwear, wore a pad and clean pad but only blood when I wiped. Phoned GP got a TV scan the next day who advised me there was a heart beat (!) however they dated me 5 + 5 weeks (I thought I was 6 + 3). I’ve had no cramps. I’ve worn pads since Monday and all been clean only changed for hygiene.
They advised me IF the bleeding got heavier or I got cramps to go back.
Bleeding hasn’t got any different still there from pink / red / brown at different times. Nothing over night at all and started spotting bleeding again today around 2pm- again only when I wipe.

Anyone ever been through anything like this?
I don’t know what to feel / think. But surely bleeding isn’t normal.

Some bleeding is fine and some isn’t. A heartbeat is a really promising sign though.
I’ve had both experiences. I bled a little and was fine and then another experience where I bled tiny amounts for two weeks and then suddenly it got stronger and it was a MC.
I hope for you it’s one of the okay bleeds. The most frustrating thing is you just don’t know. Try and keep positive if you can. Sending love.

I got bleeding/ spotting from 8 - 11 weeks. One large-ish bleed then reddy-brown spotting for the rest of the time. It was an implantation bleed that had been spotting on a 8 week scan that had come free. It was horrible and worrying at the time but DD is now 4 months old.

Blood isn't a great sign but I wanted to let you know it isn't hopeless either. The Drs told me at the time about 1/3 of pregnancies have some bleeding or spotting

mummabubs · 20/01/2021 18:44

I had bleeding at what I thought was 8 weeks that was similar to what you've described (only on wiping too). When the EPU scanned me they also saw a heartbeat and dated me at 6+3 despite me thinking I was further along. Everything turned out ok and my son is now 3. Fingers crossed you have the same experience, I felt that not having cramps alongside the bleeding was possibly a reassuring thing?

When you said it's not normal to bleed it reminded me of what my midwife told me- it's not normal, but it is common.

Jam291 · 20/01/2021 18:45

Can anyone tell me a clear difference between spotting and bleeding? Like in simple terms?

Thankyou both for the replies, I hate the whole wait and see. Would rather know either way.
Can I ask, @Trenzalor - feel free not to answer but with your MC did you see a heartbeat?
I had a MMC, had two scans at 7 and nine weeks all perfect to go for 12 week scan and baby had died just after 9 week scan... ☹️.

Life is very precious x

@mummabubs Thankyou for the reply.
I was thinking that having no cramps is a good thing, decided to google it and it just sends me off again.. sometimes too much information is a bad thing isn’t it. So so glad your pregnancy was fine 💜💜

Hi, I had a bit of bleeding and spotting with both of my pregnancies around 6-7 weeks. In both of my cases it stopped after about a week and all was okay Flowers

mummabubs · 20/01/2021 19:04

@Jam291 I work in the NHS but still find using "Dr Google" attractive at times, much to my shame! I was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus at my 12 week scan, and despite the medical professional telling me not to google it I went home and did that straight away and it terrified me. To me it doesn't sound like your bleeding is that heavy so if it doesn't get any heavier then I'd be inclined to be cautiously optimistic (easier said than done I know). Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻

1AngelicFruitCake · 20/01/2021 19:06

I had spotting both pregnancies, some blood when I wiped but not enough for there to be lots. Both pregnancies were fine. I know that’s not the same for everyone but that was my experience x

Jam291 · 20/01/2021 19:13

@mummabubs

I think with all the information at our finger tips it’s hard not to isn’t it. If I’m honest at the moment it’s not that heavy it doesn’t even go onto the pads at all. It’s the colour aswell,
Wiping and seeing the light red / pink / brown blood is heartbreaking every time.
Trying to think positive as saw little ones heartbeat yesterday. Everything crossed 🤞🏽 Xx

Can anyone tell me what’s the difference between spotting and bleeding as such?
I wish I asked EPU yesterday?

Xx

Trenzalor · 20/01/2021 21:23

@jam291 no, there wasn’t one.

Firstimehere · 20/01/2021 21:48

I feel like I’m experiencing a very similar issue to you, bleeding lightly (not enough for a pad) but I’ve had this for two days now. Having a scan at the EPU tomorrow so cross fingers 🤞 hope everything goes well for you x

PFin · 20/01/2021 21:58

I bled at around 7 and 9 weeks this pregnancy. Its was heavy first time with clots and tissue and 2nd time was like a light period for 2 days. It was very scary but as it never lasted long enough accordinf to EPU they wouldnt see me. I went for a private scan and all was well anyway. 12 weeks scan with NHS was also fine. Im now 24 weeks and its not happened since. No one could ever give me a reason for the bleeding either. But no bleeding is not normal but it happens more often than what people think so always best to get checked over. Good luck let us know I hope all goes well.

PFin · 20/01/2021 22:03

And I think spotting really is just a light bleed that you either see on tissue when you wipe or a few spots in your underwear.

Jam291 · 21/01/2021 07:54

I hope your scan goes well today what time is it? 💞 how many weeks are you.

Still the odd red / pink spotting,
No cramps, but my sickness hasn’t started yet either and on previous pregnancies I’ve had HG. Xx

@Jam291 well I think I’m 6 weeks but not sure. My scan is at 10:50, so nervous!!

Jam291 · 21/01/2021 10:59

Hope your scan went well 💞💞💞

Firstimehere · 21/01/2021 13:11

@Jam291 thank you, it did go well, she found a heartbeat and said that she doesn’t see anything that concerned her, she said that people can bleed early pregnancy due to the cervix being so sensitive so hopefully this is the case! Unfortunately I think I’m still going to be anxious about it until atleast 12 weeks! Hope you’re doing ok x

Jam291 · 21/01/2021 13:23

Oh amazing!! How many weeks are you?
I’m still bleeding, slightly heavier, I’ve spoke to GP who has arranged another scan next Tuesday to see what’s going on. Xx

OP posts:
Firstimehere · 21/01/2021 13:42

@Jam291 hopefully this scan will go well for you! I’m still bleeding as well so I’m still nervous but the scan definitely made me feel better and hopefully your scan will make you feel better too! I’m 6 weeks what about you? X

Sitchervice · 21/01/2021 13:58

Hi I hope all is well. I bled all through my first trimester and am still getting blood. (Though it's only when I go n2 now 😩) Brown blood is old blood. Bleeding can be normal but it's generally advised to tell your midwife if you do bleed/Spot.

Spotting tends to be a bit of blood drops and stuff bleeding tends to be like your actual period.

Jam291 · 21/01/2021 14:10

I’m 6 weeks today as well. Sorry to hear that you are still bleeding. It’s reassuring . I hope next Tuesday will give me an answer either way. Xxx

OP posts:
Jam291 · 21/01/2021 14:54

Hi @Sitchervice Thankyou for your story. What was your bleeding like if you don’t mind me asking?
Mine appears to be getting heavier I think ☹️

OP posts:
Sitchervice · 21/01/2021 20:38

@Jam291 today it was a bright pink blob on my tissue then it went away again.

Most of the time it was on the tissue. It went from pink red and then icky brown.

Thing is everyone's pregnancy is different which dosnt help matters at all. I am the ONLY person in my circle of female friends and family that have had the bleeding. I was always told if I'm bleeding or concerned to phone the midwives always.

Kaall2021 · 07/03/2021 06:04

@Jam291 do you mind me asking how did it all go? Similar position to you now and so worried
