Before I get anyone coming in hot, just know I stopped immediately.

I've been in hospital , and when asked if I'm pregnant, I said I wasn't sure. They decided to do a pregnancy test which came back positive and then a ultrasound as I couldn't tell them how long.

So I am 7 weeks & 3 days.

I've now come out of hospital gotten my head around being pregnant again and started to freak out that I have been vaping due to a lot due to stress. I have gone and chucked my vape out, but worried I cannot reverse what may already be done.

Do you think the baby will be ok ?

Congratulations! It will be absolutely fine, don't stress. But you do need to work on managing that stress. I would start to take steps to consciously relax. You could do pregnancy yoga, meditation, bath time, breathing, crafting. Stress is not good for unborn babies so work on that.

It'll be fine. Have a chat with your midwife once you have one and she can lay any worries to rest. Congratulations Flowers

Thank you both.

I really appreciate your time for writing back.

I guess I was more upset I hadn't found out earlier , but all I can do now is just remain calm.

😄

I did this too - the midwife said that for the first few weeks the baby is living off the egg still not your placenta as it's still developing (something along those lines) so it's not likely to affect the baby. Well done for stopping
Cold turkey, I went down to 0% for a couple of days and then stopped. Morning sickness will help you not miss the vape as the idea made me feel ill!!

Thanks @linerforlife. That is very reassuring. It is not easy by any means, right now it making me feel more irritable and tired then I think pregnancy is. But I'm such a worrier it's just easy to stop then continue making myself worry. 😅

@kaela1992 in regards to vaping , my MW told me this is fine
I smoked until I found out then started vaping , I've cut down from 10ml of nicotine to now 3ml & I'm 36 weeks

I seriously doubt this would have harmed the baby as many people drink and smoke before finding out and go on to have healthy pregnancies. It's still very early and you have stopped straight away so don't worry x

kaela1992 · 21/01/2021 20:51

Thank you @Ksi91 and @Allyy for your positive feedback. I'm pretty relaxed now and was able to stop.

Really appreciate everyone's support.

I vaped throughout after going cold turkey off cogs was too hard, I didn't take my vape to work just evenings and my baby is fine Smile

Jesskir89 · 21/01/2021 21:31

Cigs not cogs lol

As other posters have said, at this early stage your baby will be living off the placenta so you won't have done any harm. Well done for stopping immediately though.

To those who think that vaping throughout pregnancy is fine, this is extremely naive and selfish. The latest research has proven that it affects development of lungs, heart, brain and immune system, although effects might not be obvious until later in life. For a midwife to say it's fine it completely irresponsible but it should also be remembered that midwives are only health practitioners and I'm sure you would get a very different response from a doctor!
